I applied this to the bottom of my floor joists as part of a project to reduce "stack effect" which causes moist air from the crawlspace to be drawn up into the living space of the house, negatively effecting indoor air quality and other things. SmartSHIELD insulation incorporates a vapor barrier along with the foam insulation and the radiant heat barrier making it well suited for this application.

Be careful what seam tape is used on polypropylene white side. Aluminum tape stuck for 2 weeks then peeled off. Tyvec tape works much better, but some has peeled too after months on. Got red seam tape with acrylic pressure glue to seal seams but don't know how long tape seals will hold behind the drywall. Once tape seal fails, insulation effectiveness is ruined... water vapor & cold/hot air will infiltrate right around the loose edges. Aluminum tape holds great on the aluminum foil side. Next time, if ever, I'll buy with aluminum foil on both sides. Or, I will roll out so aluminum foil side is exposed and taped (might hold longer). Be careful removing tape... the poly film and aluminum foil film sticks to the tap and peels the film off of the foam layer. I couldn't find any information/advice from the ad or the seller/manufacturer what type seam tape to use.

A bit difficult to attach for purpose ordered, but not Sellers fault—I had to have the bigger size I ordered. Appearance & quality is GREAT!!

I put this down before my metal roof. I could instantly feel a 10-15 degree difference in Central Arkansas on July 110 degree days. Customer service was excellent as well and responded very quickly. Will order more when I start my shop.

I used smartshield to insulate the walls of my pole barn. I thought it would do a much better job at preventing heat transfer from the sun. At most there was a 15° difference between bare metal wall and the backside of insulation foam. Ended up having Pole Barn spray formed to get the result I wanted.

We cut and installed this product in a large metal garage. We only had the sides up when we went back in the next day and were amazed at the difference in the outside/inside temperature. OMG. worth every penny. We already recommended it to a friend who is also building a garage.
