Cuboid - Hummingbird Feeder 2 in 1 (Discontinuous)

No matter what I tried I could not get this hang straight , neither on the window or the chain. My ocd kicked in when it would not lay flat on the window. On the window it tilted a bit and the liquid would lean more towards the window and therefor when it was low the small birds couldn't get any food because it all was towards the back of the feeder. I really wanted this to work to hang on the window, I tried different windows to make sure it wasn't just an older odd window. When I hung it by the chains it still wouldn't hang even and I think the birds was even afraid of all the chains.

This is well made and the chain is really nice and the way you can hang it either way is spiffy. However........the holes are large enough to let honey bees crawl inside and drown. I found a small set of bee protectors and if I can make those work I'll post a picture and update this review and buy 6 more.

I've purchased 7 of these now (4 for myself & the others as gifts) since the price was so great and they are very similar to the "Jewel." I only gave 4 stars because I wish the ant moat was removable (like the Jewel) since I'm in a rainy area so the ant moat fills up fast with water and a couple have fallen from the window but probably also due to heavy rains and minimal overhang coverage). I wish the lid was hinged (like the Jewel) as these lids are a little difficult to lift off without breaking a perch. I've learned to put a finger on a back corner and a thumb on a front corner and carefully lift the lid - do NOT grab one of the perches as a couple of my perches have broken (easy fix with a drop of superglue!). And, I was happy the holes were bigger as easier to clean but also easier for more bugs to get in - but don't hummers also feast on these tiny bugs? We'll see how bad this gets when the weather changes with more bugs. It has 6 feeding holes and 3 great perching areas and hold more food than the Jewel. It took our hummers no time to check these feeders out and they camp on them every day, I've had 6+ hummers on 1 of these feeders! Sherwoodbase Customer Service was EXCEPTIONAL when notifying them of these few comments and issues at their request on a nice note included inside the box.

I really should have listened to the other reviews on this feeder and not purchased. If you plan on attaching this to a window don't bother, find another product!I meticulously followed every step of the instructions to attach this thing. I took one step back and the bloody feeder fell straight down on my foot, snapping the large bird rest off the red cover and spilling all the sugar-water down the front of me. The suction cups were still attached to the window! The issue was the weight of the feeder itself, then when I placed the sugar-water into the shallow dish it was even heavier. I didn't even bother putting water in the ant mote, that would have really made it heavy, and there is no way to remove the ant mote either, so that's not an option.The problem is the plastic tabs at the top, which the feeder is supposed to rest on, are too short. That and the fact that you're screwing the screws right into the rubber suction cups, which ended up pulling right out of one of the cups. In a different brand of window feeder I own the suction cups have plastic inserts in them so that you're not stripping the rubber, rather you have something solid to screw into.Another issue was that the feeder was not level once placed on the window mount. It was tilted up in the front, which caused the sugar-water to flow to the back of the feeder. I could see where this would be an issue for the birds trying to get at the food, especially as they depleted it. And an issue with leaking if you filled the feeder almost to the top when level.Overall very disappointing as a window feeder. Since this is what I intended to use it for I am returning it.

I have many feeders and the birds are ok with it but not as much as some feeders.

I bought 2 of these, one for my grand daughter and one for me. I wanted to love this feeder because the design seems so logical. My grand daughter's feeder fell off of the window and broke after the second time refilling it. They tried using the chain but couldn't get it balanced, so they gave up and used the suction cups. They were hard to get straight on the window and they kept sliding down on one side.I tried mine and it was equally hard to get in a straight line on the window, but we finally succeeded. then one morning i looked out and it was gone and the suction cups loose. it broke, but my husband was able to fix it with glue. We put it back up when we replaced the food and it fell again this time shattering beyond repair. So sad!!!! We always made sure that the suction was okay before we put it back up, but alas.........

This feeder looks great functions as expected and holds a lot of food. The big downside is that when hanging it looks a bit odd and is better attached to a window.

Bought 2 of these window feeders and the reason for the 2 stars is how the plastic tops fits the clear base. The contact is uneven and wants to shift around while setting the top to the bottom. My natural tendency the first time placing the top to the bottom was to push down untill it snapped into place or in some way felt secure to the bottom. It never did and I feared breaking the plastic to squeeze any harder.The feeder does work and the hummers use it. With a good snug fit between the two plastic parts I'd rate this much higher.
