Alekhine's Gun - Xbox One

Okay, so this isn't a completely terrible game, it's just that any game post the newer Hitman & Dishonored games falls a bit short. For example, like the other games I mentioned, this one you play as I think a Russian assassin (I don't at all remember the story). However unlike the Hitman & Dishonored games you can't really throw distractions, there's a non-lethal takedown in this game but it requires a resource which you only get 2 of that resource at the beginning of a level if you pick it in your load out & for both Hitman/Dishonored you have both a lethal & non-lethal option as many times as you want, that's not how it works for this game (Alekhine's Gun) which depending on your perspective will decide how you feel about this game, like having to be much more mindful of your resources to take care of enemies without killing them is a lot more strategic or you could view it as an inferior game compared to much better designed stealth games like what I mentioned earlier. Another thing is the stealth for this game seems a little inconsistent (haven't put tons of hours into this game) but sometimes the enemy AI are complete idiots like killing one right to the side of another (which is fine, games don't have to be 100% realistic, that's just unfun if it was) or the enemies are total geniuses seeing me crouched in shadow & cover, instantly being alerted at times (weird). Essentially I would consider this to be a poor imitation of the Hitman game franchise, if your still curious about this game I would recommend that you rent it, I bought this game but I got lucky & there was a sale on Amazon for this game to purchase it new for $10.00 & after getting all the achievements (not that tricky at all, some just annoying) I understood why it had such a massive price cut for a sale. Being a fan of the Death to Spies 1 and 2, I was looking forward to this. I knew this wasn’t a AAA title, I don’t care. I usually really enjoy games most folks don’t. So when Im thumbing down a game, you KNOW its bad.PLOT: You play an agent of a couple intelligence organizations, and you travel to exotic locations to execute folks, steal documents, foil plans, otherwise cause havoc. Storyline is really pretty cool and the locales are varied and very detailed.GAMEPLAY: Wow, am I person or a truck? Controlling your guy is like driving an elephant in Far Cry 4. Holy crap. He moves VERY slowly and very tank-like. Also, tactics are weak here. Example, taking cover, calling someone over, usually you get a prompt to kill / knockout. There are no corner kills here, folks. Totally sucks. The AI varies from incredibly smart to flat out dumb. I finally turned off a generator right in front of a guy. Other times, they won’t let me in (despite the fact Im wearing the same uniform as they are). And to kill someone, you have to ready yourself EVERYTIME. The animations tho are pretty cool, like when you knock someone out, or fisticuffs. But takes an hour to draw weaponsGRAPHICS: Look really smooth and post processing effects were nice but was the guy who coded the lighting photosensitive? Hello! OMG, the difference between light and dark is jarring. It’s a bright a** sunny day but I step in the shade, and all of a sudden you cant see squat. WTF? Had to turn my TV up just to see a wall…which is right next to a lamp 2 feet away to figure out “Oh ,that’s why I cant go that way…there is a friggin wall there) The levels are designed and detailed very nice.AUDIO: The voice actors are convincing, but I don’t know if its them, their direction, or the equipment they used to record themselves. Just lacks authenticity. They cast them completely wrong. The Russian agent sounds pretty good, but the CIA agent sounds like a leader at an Eagle Scout meeting teaching kids how to tie their shoe. You are supposed to be a killer for cryin out loud. Im not saying sound like Mad Max, but have some confidence and lethality in your voice. Music and ambiance is pretty cool, and guns are average.OVERALL: I stopped playing it. Ill pick it back up again Im sure but for now, yeah. I thought this would tide me over till Hitman comes out but no way. Like I said, Death to spies 1 and 2 had horrible flaws but I still LOVED those games. So I expected this game to suck at times but still be fun. It just wasn’t. You watch the gameplay trailer and think how awesome it is. There’s a reason why you see short snippets. This is bargain bin price for sure. It’s an insult for them to charge FULL AAA title price. You can tell they put their heart and soul in this game and they busted their butts, but that studio just doesn’t have the talent to pull off a game of this magnitude. Stick with what you know. If the original DEVs did this game, it would be like the rest in the series; major flaws but fun. This is just plain painful. I feel like not only did they take my money during this sale, but they stapled the receipt to my balls.

The game isn't worth the $40 dollars I paid for it. No one should waste their money on this. There are so many problems with this game but the most frustrating is getting stuck in a doorway, so if I didn't save I have to restart the mission. Also, controller died and instead of pausing the game, it took me back to the main menu, which also made me have to restart the mission. When near a wall, I turned to look where the enemies were, and the screen split into three shapes. It's a lot like Hitman, master room keys, poison, civilian, enemies, disguises, lock picking, the levels rate you on your stealth, and blah, blah, blah. This is a copycat of Hitman with less options like being able to jump balconies and it has plenty of bugs. I could probably give more reasons not to buy this game but I'm currently running in place, in a DOORWAY!And, how can someone not compare this game to Hitman? For the reasons above, it has too many of the same ideas but was not made as well as Hitman. I gave it a shot, but how can I recommend a game I think isn't worth the money they're asking for? Nobody cares how hard it is to make a game, it's their job they get paid to do it. Is it wrong for the people they are profiting from to expect at least a decent game? If a bridge is built and the day it's opened it collapses, is anyone going to tell the workers "The bridge you built collapsed, but building a bridge is hard work so I'll give you four stars anyways."? If they can't handle the criticism, than maybe they should've took the time to release the game right. All I see is, they had an idea, though unoriginal, forced it through development to release it and expect people to pay $50 for a flawed game. I recommend not buying this game, if we get anymore cheerleaders for 'games are hard to make' imagine all the games that we will be fooled into buying. Let's not lower the bar to everyones' a winner because $50 is a lot for some of us.

fun game!

Al principio me costó mucho trabajo entender y adaptarme a la forma de juego, pero me desafiaba a seguir jugándolo. Me costó adaptarme a la falta de autoguardado y tenia que ir grabando a la antigüita cada vez que avanzaba un poco. Pero me gustó, seguí jugándolo y hoy puedo recomendarlo. Para subir la valoración a 5 estrellas, sugeriría al equipo de desarrolladores le incluyan opciones para configurar el brillo y ajustes de la pantalla, porque en mi caso tuve que hacerlo directamente en mi TV. Fuera de eso, muy bien.. espero la secuela!
