These "socks" looked too flimsy from the photo but there was nothing else available that did what these claim so I took a risk and bought a pair. I took them to the DR and have been using them to enter the ocean at our resort. They have done a great job protecting my feet. The rocks are easy to navigate with these on my feet. I am diabetic and my feet blister and damage easily as a result. So it was important to have something that would keep sand out and away from my feet.Sand will cause major irritation and blisters. These socks have done well in preventing this. They do very well in keeping the sand out! If you step into water above the ankles the water will enter the socks but the sand doesn't enter. When you leave the water you will need to empty the water from the socks. For me this is a small price to pay. When I get blisters it can ruin a vacation. Unlike a lot of other neoprene socks these are glued and stitched so unless water goes above the ankle cuff they are waterproof.As they have a smoothskin ankle cuff they are almost water proof when fully submerged but clearly they will allow some water in.As the water doesn't swish in and out it warms up and feet don't get as cold as they would if the seams were not sealed.They are socks so while you can walk in them they won't last long on rough ground.Worn as socks inside fins or sailing trainers or windsurfing boots they will be good.Soap or KY jelly ( or personal lubricants) make it easy to get on and off.I'm a size 7 UK and ordered Small
