This is a well-made tool that would be perfect for picking up the swarf around the lathe. It's about an inch around and, at 17 inches it can reach under machines and behind toolboxes to get to the crap that finds its way there. I also wanted one to pick up the contents of storage bins that I dump out to search for that one little part and this works but it is a bit clumsy - or I am - so that will improve with use. Immediately bought another one as a gift, so that's a pretty good endorsement, no?

After seeing one of these in use on the Cutting Edge Engineering Youtube channel, I bought one. It looked great when it arrived and worked awesome for cleaning out swarf on my metal lathe. That being said, I knocked it off the lathe table by accident and when I picked it up off the floor (about a three foot drop) I was unpleasantly surprised to see the pull handle knob had half of it broken off, and the collar that keeps swarf from going up the metal tube when you pull the handle was cracked. While very handy, this product definitely wasn't designed for rough handling. I will look for another brand of these in the future.

Just what I needed to pick up nuts and bolts from under the workbench

The media could not be loaded. I knew I was taking a chance ordering this since a couple other reviewers said theirs arrived broken. Mine also arrived broken/defective. Upon very first use, the handle came right off, exposing the cheaply made magnet contraption inside, as well as the very thick lubricant that is now on my hands, shorts and floor.

I used this three times and it fell apart. Unable to put it back together because the whole internal assembly is held together with rubbish tack welds. Typical Chinese copycat rubbish!
