Update 11-2-2019I just lost the second grinder. The internal mechanism is made of plastic and busted as I was grinding some salt. About a year or so ago, the other grinder I was using also for salt busted when I loosened the grinder to get a bit coarser salt, as the grind was giving a fine powder. Unfortunately, the aluminum screw was oxidized and when I loosened the knob the screw snapped off. Do not buy these grinders. The important parts are made of cheap materials. On the positive side, the wife stated the useless glass containers can be used as vases.I have a bunch of different grinders and these work OK. I purchased it for my pink Himalayan salt. I think I would prefer a crank style handle and a metal grinder over this one, but for the price, this one is OK. The top cover is a bit of a nuisance to remove and when you turn it back over all the ground salt and/or pepper remaining at the top drops down to the bottom when flipped back over. It kind of defeats the purpose of the clear container as the walls eventually get cloudier over time.One other issue: If you use these in the kitchen a lot, they can get a bit greasy and hard to turn the shaft. So, expect to wipe them down more frequently than you might imagine.Update 11/9/17 I am changing my 3 stars to 2 stars. I use a lot of different salts; Kosher, sea, Potassium blend, nu-salt, home made spiced salts, popcorn, etc. Anyway, I just ran out of salt in this shaker for the first time. After I filled the shaker, I tried to unscrew the black handle on top to get a coarser grind. It was coming out like a fine powder and getting all over the place. Unfortunately, the aluminum screw oxidized to the brass nut that is embedded into the black plastic adjustment knob. I think Himalayan sea-salt is a bit moist and could have had something to do with it. I might suggest adding a bit of vegetable oil to the screw, at least for the salt shaker. I am waiting for Chef Express to get back to me, as they state 100% satisfaction. I will update if anything changes.I paid full pop for this item, so you have my honest and BIASED opinion.11/14/2017 Isn't it interesting that Chef Express commented on my original review, but only to ask I upgrade the rating. About a week ago I had to downgrade the rating, yet I have received no response. Even though they had two days to do so, I gave them almost a week. So, while these guys worry about improving something, it certainly is not the customer service or their product. I am stuck with broken garbage and now downgrade my review to 1 star.

This is a high quality grinder set that looks nice on my kitchen island. It warranted 5 stars for the following reasons:1. It holds enough pepper and Himalayan salt that it does not need to be refilled frequently.2. The shape is comfortable to hold, and I can carry both in one hand when my other hand is full.3. The grind is easily adjustable from fine to coarse.4. It has a cover so that it can be set on the countertop with the grinder side down without leaving salt and pepper behind. This feature is also nice with my quartz countertops so that the glass side is not clanking against the solid surface.5. The set is a great value for the price.I will likely purchase another set or two for my dining room.

I really like the style and the fact that the grinder is on the top so it doesn't make a mess when you set it down. It is also good that you can adjust the coarseness of the grind. I am not totally happy with the condition of the glass. The ones I received have a wavy indentation on the outside near the seam. It is smooth on the inside so it doesn't affect the use of the product, but I am disappointed that it is not entirely smooth on the outside.

I have been looking for a set of good salt and pepper grinder for a long time before I found these. Most grinders have cheap plastic parts that fall apart easily. I will update this review as time goes by.These look great and work perfectly for us so far. Filled one with whole pepper corn from Costco and one with kosher salt. They are easy to turn, which is important for someone like me who cooks a lot, and the grind comes out perfectly sized.

This is truly "the best deluxe salt and pepper grinder" set! (I have tried many) The packaging (which includes a polishing cloth), is beautiful. About the grinders: I love the fact that they are glass with stainless lids. The grinding mechanism works very well. Easy to adjust. They look beautiful on the table.Whether it is a gift for a friend or a gift for yourself....I highly recommend the Chef Express "Best Deluxe Salt and Pepper Grinder"!

This is the best pepper grinder I've ever had. First, it holds a LOT of peppercorns, which means you don't have to refill it often. Second, when you do have to refill it, that's easy (unlike most grinders). Third, the grinding is easily adjustable. And I love that the base is glass -- which is easy to clearn -- rather than plastic, which is harder to clean and easily scratches. BIG recommendation for this model.

They are a little bit taller in person. However I really like them,they go well with the rest of my decor.

I 1st ordered a set of salt and pepper grinders from another supplier that uses a different (modern) design. They do work, but I wasn't satisfied with the output capacity (the amount of ground material produced), so I ordered the Best Deluxe set from Chef Express. I'm very satisfied all aspects of the Chef Express design.
