Set the mood A single tap creates any mood with pre-set light levels. Set the mood by dimming a group of sockets with a single touch. Simplicity No hub, no wires, no starter pack. We use a combination of WiFi and Bluetooth LE to make the setup process very simple. You can setup all of your emberlight Sockets on your WiFi network at the same time in less than a minute. Security Connected devices are either simple or secure. It's rare that you can find a product that has both. We've got experts on our team that have found a way to achieve simplicity at a high level of security. Uptime Connected devices are either very responsive, or they offer remote access via the internet. We wanted both, so we incorporated Bluetooth LE and WiFi. When you are nearby the Socket will detect that and "fall forward" to Bluetooth for control directly from your phone. When you walk away, it will "fall back" to WiFi to allow access from anywhere in the world via the internet. In 2013, we saw that home automation was a confusing and complicated experience, and we set out to create a simple product that was easy to install and use.In 2014, we launched the Emberlight Socket on Kickstarter with a humble goal of $50,000. We were blown away when we reached over $300,000 in preorder sales during the 6 week campaign. We were fortunate to raise a seed round from amazing investors to bring the product to market, and those investors stood behind us through thick and thin. We knew that our product vision was mainstream when made it on the shelves of 270 Target stores across the country.Since our Kickstarter campaign, we have seen at least 4 identical products hit the market, along with hundreds of other smart lighting products. For customers, this is great as it has driven down prices and increased choice. However, it has proven to be a challenging environment for a small startup. The reality is that we need a lot more capital to survive in this market segment against heavy hitters like Philips, GE and others. Unfortunately, we have not been able to raise the required financing to continue our journey.With that, I’m sad and sorry to say that emberlight is shutting down. Service shutting down!!! Buyer beware!
As of 11/17/2017, I received an email that they are shutting down and then the socket will no longer function. Great concept....great product...when it works
Worked great for a few weeks. I would have given this product 5 stars if it continued working well. My experience:1) Sturdy build yet quite unobstrusive. Easy to set up2) Out of the box, one of the three I bought to test could not work because the contact was too short. Had to add solder.3) One unit stopped working after about 5 weeks. Totally dead. Bought a new one4) All three units setup well and integrated well with Alexa5) 6 months later, units all refuse to work with Alexa despite reconnecting and even factory reset. Hit or miss whether they work with the app6) App is sometimish. Works sometimes, doesnt load sometimes. Finds the lights sometimes, doesnt find them sometimes. Turns the lights on and off sometimes, doesn't sometimes...you get the picture7) This is not isolated as it is three different units bought at two different times8) The issue is not OS-based as units are setup on both iOS and Android, and worked fine for a while9) Absolutely awesome concept because it can take dimmable LED lights at high lumensAll in all, this is a great concept and actually was awesome while it worked. I'm hoping they get the bugs worked out and it works as it is supposed to, because it's actually an awesome product

Company shutting down
Do NOT buy an Emberlight. The company just announced that they are shutting down because they cannot compete with Phillips. They announced that all Emberlights will completely stop functioning in a few months.
