“Koontz writes first-rate suspense, scary and stylish.”—Los Angeles Times Every city has its secrets. But none as terrible as this. He is Deucalion, a tattooed man of mysterious origin, a sleight-of-reality artist who has traveled the centuries with a secret worse than death. He arrives in New Orleans as a serial killer stalks the streets, a killer who carefully selects his victims for the humanity that is missing in himself. Deucalion’s path will lead him to cool, tough police detective Carson O’Connor and her devoted partner, Michael Maddison, who are tracking the slayer but will soon discover signs of something far more terrifying: an entire race of killers who are much more—and less—than human and, deadliest of all, their deranged, near-immortal maker, Victor Helios—once known as Frankenstein. BOOK ONE: PRODIGAL SON BOOK TWO: CITY OF NIGHT BOOK THREE: DEAD AND ALIVE BOOK FOUR: LOST SOULS BOOK FIVE: THE DEAD TOWN

Dean Koontz Frankenstein Series.
At current prices (just over £8 at time of writing) this set of five novels is a fairly good bargain.Koontz is an engaging author and has a decent way of spinning a yarn; this isn't quite horror or fantasy in the way that - for example - Charlaine Harris or Jim Butcher novels are; I would describe this as science fiction/thriller writing - pulp-fiction of a superior kind really; entertaining, at times humorous, inventive, fast-moving story-telling.The first three books could easily be read as a trilogy with the final two providing an interesting coda; none of the books would really make a satisfying stand-alone read as the overall concept of the tale really requires the novels to be read in series. They provide a fast read; the short chapter, multi-stranded structure of the narrative will keep you hooked.Good holiday reading - I should think; excellent for losing yourself in for a few days; a little daft, but absorbing entertainment nevertheless.

D A great read in so many different ways and
Thanks for the quick delivery, I am not a Koontz fan but after reading the first of this series several years ago I have kept my eye out for number 2. I found it at a car boot a couple of months ago and was gutted when I got it home to discover it was book number 3. After a little research I found out there were now 5 books in the series and grabbed these, as I read I worried that book 5 would not be the last and I would have to wait even longer for the conclusion but the 5th book is the final book :D A great read in so many different ways and, ultimately, well worth the wait :D On the negative side of things I did lose a couple of weeks of my life while burning through the pages of these books but hell, I needed a bit of time off-silver linings and all that lol!
