The tank isn't actually 4 gallons. It is 3.7. Also, a few other minor grievances. Otherwise good.
This generator was easy to setup and get running. It isn't terribly loud, and the gas seems to last a long time. I have only used it briefly, but I like it so far. Here are my only criticisms: the very first thing I noticed was that the tank didn't look 4 gallons (like advertised). Right in the user manual, it says 3.7 gallons, so it's a pretty big difference from 4 -not a huge deal, but I still feel misled. I wanted to point this out first of all because I feel this kind of advertising shouldn't be acceptable. Also, the oil is in a terrible spot, make sure you have a funnel with a hose, because mine had to tilt and just leaked when I went to fill it. Make sure you don't overfill the oil either, the manual says add 1/2 a quart, but it's too much... it leaked out and through the air-filter.Overall a good product.

Cheap Chinese Garbage!
I purchased this Smarter Tools generator. With only 4 hours on it the generator stopped producing power. We think the brushes are the problem. In the photo you can see that the lower brush appears to have been sheared off somehow during operation. I live in the mountains where we see plenty of snow. Power outages have at times lasted 3 to 5 days here. If you're looking for a good generator to back up your home during power outages this is not dependable.

Dead On The Table
Took it camping and it died after only 9 hours of use. Motor still works, but no power is being generated.

generator
Used it camping. I have to use the choke to start it, but it starts up fine. It lasted about ten hours too. Powered our air conditioner just fine.

Great low cost generator.
I've had this 3500 generator for three years now.It can power an air conditioner with ease.My unit starts on the first pull every time. There is also an electric start version available: Not needed, as it takes so little effort on the pull starter. It's nice to have the large {about 3 1/2 gallon) fuel tank; providing extended run times.Has an hour meter.I trust this Smarter Tools unit enough that I carry it on my fire truck to run lighting and power tools.

Cheap plastic recoil starter!
I've barely used this generator and just fire it up every few months to keep it running and cycle the fluids. There's maybe 1-2 hours max on this generator and the recoil starter (pull start) snapped on my last attempt to start it. Didn't pull overly hard and it just gave out. When I went to remove the casing to inspect, it damn near took out my eye as the spring shot out and un-coiled. Get what you pay for I guess.... 2 stars though because when it ran it worked well haha

EXTREMELY easy to pull start
This generator is about 5x easier to pull start than an average push lawnmower. It takes very little effort and usually will start on the 1st or 2nd pull.It runs 2 refrigerators easily and more.I like it a lot.Video of me using it under load: [...]
