This is my new favorite Flashlight
I've only had this light for a few hours but I'm already in love with it. If you are not already familiar with the DX30LC2-SR version of this light, essentially it is the same as the Eagletac DX30LC2-R but the SR version has a 2nd LED on the side. This 2nd LED is more of a flood (with a 100° spill angle) whereas the main (front) LED is more of a spot. By pressing and holding the side switch for 1 sec, you can switch between the spot LED only, the flood LED only, or spot + flood both on at the same time.I find several uses for the side LED:1. You can stand the flashlight on its head and provide light to a broad area. This would be useful during camping (for example) or while changing a tire.2. You can lay the flashlight on its side and point the side LED at the ceiling to fill a dark room with light, much the same way you could with a tail-standing flashlight.3. It provides anti-roll capability. The side LED housing is flat and squared off, so when it's resting on the housing the flashlight is not likely to move around.4. If you buy a 3rd party handlebar mount, you can use this flashlight as a bike light. Eagletac does make a version of this light (the DX30LC2-BR) specifically for bikes. But I think this version might actually be more useful, because you could use the "spot + flood" mode to illuminate down the road as well as the area in your immediate vicinity. When you're riding a bike at night, more light is always better. The specs listed in the item description above are accurate, but missing one bit of information. If you're running in "spot + flood" mode, here are the specs (taken from Eagletac's web site):Five brightness levels - Spot + FloodLED lumens:926 / 445 / 192 / 60 / 9Runtime:1.8 / 4.5 / 12 / 35 / 200+ hours (1x18650)1 / 2.5 / 6.5 / 22 / 140 hours (2xCR123A)Some other observations / features:* When you turn on the light, it will always start on Turbo brightness You can start on Very Low brightness by holding the side switch in as you press the tail switch.* When you turn off the light, it will remember what mode you were in (spot, flood, or spot + flood) and start in that mode the next time you turn the light on. It remembers this even if you remove the battery.* The SR version does NOT have any special modes (strobe, beacon, or SOS). So if that's important to you, go with the DX30LC2-R.* A USB charging cord is included, but the charger itself is not. You'll need to plug the supplied cord into a USB phone charger, your laptop (if it has charge capability), or something similar if you want to charge the battery inside the flashlight. The charging cord has a proprietary connector where it plugs into the flashlight. It is not a micro- or mini-USB.* To charge the battery inside the flashlight, plug in the cord AND then press the tail switch. If you don't press the tail switch, charging will not begin.* The included Eagletac 18650 battery is 2600 mAh.* The included side clip is stiff and attaches securely to the flashlight body, but there was a slight gap between the clip and the flashlight I took it off and put it in my vise to bend it a bit and it's fine now.* The head and tailcap both unscrew from the body and can be reversed if you prefer to carry the flashlight head-up instead of tail-up, or if you want to clip the light to the bill of a baseball cap to use it hands-free.Size-wise, it's perfect for me. It feels good in my hand (my hands are size L / XL) without being either too small or too bulky. For comparison, I tried the Olight M18 Maverick and found it a little too small, and also looked at the Nitecore P12GT but found it a little too big for EDC. This one is perfect for me. Very happy with my purchase.
