Assassin's Creed Vol. 1: Trial by Fire (A D.D. Warren and Flora Dane Novel)

Fans of Assassins Creed, this is an amazing installment of the creed universe.
I loved this reading, especially the fact that I can find this series in novel form rather than just small portions of the comic book. This series was very epic and exhilarating.

An entertaining read
I’ve played a little bit of one or two of these games so I was intrigued to come across these comics. While not completely grabbing me, I found it interesting enough to finish and deserving a a 3 star rating. I liked that the first place we started with a look into the past was Salem. All the characters were interesting though I’m still not sure how I feel about the main character, Charlotte, at the moment. I don’t dislike her, but I don’t necessarily like her either. Perhaps if I decide to read more that’ll change. The art style was good though not my favorite, but that was just for certain areas. That could improve as well. Anyways, it was definitely a fun read at least. My favorite part was that they included the actual historical account of what happened at Salem during and following the witch trials.

A new hero for a long running series
First of all this isn't based on any existing characters from the video games. But things and people like Abstergo and "Daniel" are mentioned so there's a bit of continuity with the games. This particular trade features the first 5 issues of this particular series. Main star is a Charlotte De La Cruz, a young woman trying to make ends met, works at the same bank her student loans are held and trying to get a better position in life. Her ancestor was an Assassin (the good guys in this situation for those unfamiliar with the lore) during the Salem Witch trials. She's tasked to go through her genetic memories (Going to try to explain as best I can here, Assassins and Templars, the bad guys, can use a machine called an Animus to let the user look and play for a lack of a better term trough an ancestor's life for brief periods) to track down an artifact during that period. Of course there's more to this story but I'm trying to keep things brief for the summery.Charlotte, or Char, is a pretty interesting character, has a good sense of right and wrong, evn though she latter realizes her attempt at a "Robin Hood moment was a huge mistake, she has a small gift that makes her useful to the Assassins and Templars. The rest of the main charactrers, maybe not so much. Their's Xavier, the leader of this particular cell who's a little too single minded and more than willing to pull the "I'm in charge" card, Galina a female assassin who's a bit of a hot head and hasthis habit of calling Char 'girl" and Kody resident tech guy who seems decent so far. Then there's Char's ancestor Tom Stoddard who can be way colder than Char expects. The story itself is good. It explains things for those unfamiliar with the concepts, probably better than I can or tried too. The modern stuff is there and the Witch Trials is a cool back drop for the past segments. And since that's one of the things we'll probably never see in the games it's good they're using other media like the comics to explore thing. even if it's for a brief moment. Doing a little research I discover this is the only arc we see the Trials. And while there Del Col put in some interesting twists. So if you're a fan of the game series or looking for something not super hero related I'd say check it out.

Einfach klasse.

Interesting
Interesting story, strong characters, good drawing. What will Charlotte do next? Will she stay with Assassins? Will they find what they are looking for?

Meh.
Characters are boring, especially the main protagonist. Also straight away it has a woke garbage throwaway line. I read comics to escape the outside world and nonsense and now I’m finding it more and more in my escapism vices. Then they wonder why the comics industry is failing.
