I bought this for my oil paintings. I always used canvas panels for paintings. I found that several famous artists used this and I wanted to try it. I think it would be specifically good to bring your outdoor paintings. But it absorbs oil paint more than I thought. You can prime it before you use it. I am a lazy person so I just use it. I love the surface texture.
