Labelmaker is awesome, battery won't recharge
We use the Dymo Labelmanager PnP occasionally in the office. The functions and user interface are awesome, However, the rechargeable battery included WILL NOT recharge. The replacement cost of the battery is ridiculous compared to the price of the entire unit! I read here in another review that a square 9-volt battery will work if wedged in, so I tried that. Be sure to position 9-volt for correct polarity, installing with the positive terminal to the bottom of the battery chamber. I wedged the battery against the terminal springs with a folded-up facial tissue and popped the cover back on and so far it works perfectly! I can't say if the replacement battery being 9-volt instead of 7.4-volt will eventually degrade performance of the unit but I'm not willing to practically spend unit replacement cost on a battery that I know will only last until it depletes its charge for $28.00!! If it destroys the label maker I'll just purchase a different brand! Dymo, you should do better than this! You're a very respected brand!

DO NOT PURCHASE THE UNIT FOR WHICH THIS BATTERY OPERATES
The purpose of the cable to the computer SHOULD be to charge the unit and provide hook up to the computer for interfacing. The device works well. However, I cannot continue to justify paying so much for this battery. I will only buy this battery one more time until all the label cartridges are used up. This is getting ridiculous, and no one will provide a discount. I will be warehousing this printer soon.DO NOT PURCHASE THE UNIT FOR WHICH THIS BATTERY OPERATES. Give a discount and stop gouging customers. To the manufacturer of this device: A product improvement would be to make the cable to the computer a charger to a battery we do not have to continuously purchase. This device is a fiscal failure.

Way Over Priced
What a rip off. Battery costs more than a whole new unit with BATTERY. Reminds me of the earlier days on ink jet printers when it was cheaper to fill the dump with printers and order a new unit then buy more ink. At least the batteries are smaller.

iT DOES NOT SPECIFY IF THE UNIT RECHARGES THE BATTERY. NO OTHER RECHARGER IS AVAILABLE.
I HAVE OWNED TWO OF THE UNITS, IN BOTH THE BATTERY FAILED WITHIN SIX WEEKS BEYOND RETURN WINDOW.THE BATTERY DOES NOT HOLD A CHARGE OR IS NEVER CHARGED. tHE BATTERIES ARE OVERPRICED (COST MORE THAN THE UNIT SOLD WITH A BATTERY---RIDICULOUS) tHE UNITE WORKS WELL WITH AN ORDINARY 9 VOLT ALKALINE BATTERY WEDGED OR SOLDERED INTO THE BATTERY SPACE (CORRECT POLARITY). iF YOU ARE NOT HANDY DO NOT BUY. iF YOU ARE, THE UNIT CAN WORK QUITE WELL.

bad deal..no buy PNP labelmaker
DO not buy the PNP label maker as the battery does not last very long and the replacement battery is 10 dollars more that the original price of the label maker including battery..

An Utter Shame.
I agree, why buy a new battery when the a new unit costs less. It's a shame and a total waste of a otherwise good product. So much for going green. And no, I didn't buy this battery.

Works as it should
Analyzed the battery when arrived and passed at 96%. No issues with it. Worked as it should.
