Matchbox Twenty EP

Suffer me
I purchased this CD used because I only wanted one song that I couldn't find anywhere to purchase as a download (Suffer Me). There are 4 live songs and one that was done with an orchestra. I paid $4.43 and it was well worth it. The CD was in great shape. At first, when I opened it, I thought it was a copy as that is how Matchbox 20 made it look. Very funny once I figured that out!

Disappointment
I am not sure how this CD was ever rated as 'Very Good' but I'll defiantly be leary on purchasing from this dealer. I have tried several different CD players and this CD will not play/or ever read the disc. I'm very disappointed as this was the final album for me to complete my collection.

Collection for the fans
If you aren't a huge fan of matchbox twenty's music, this EP probably isn't the place for you to start listening to MB20. However, if you are a big time fan, then you will enjoy this EP as a little collection of previously unreleased recordings (in the U.S. at least).CrutchThe version of Crutch on the EP is a jazzed up version of the song by the same title that appeared on "mad season by matchbox twenty." The song is also available on the DVD of MB20's VH1 Storytellers appearance. You get saxophones, trumpets, and the band playing in a style that would make you think you were in a jazz club. An argument could be made that this arrangement is better than the original album track.PushThis is a live cut from the bands upcoming show of the MTV series "Hard Rock Live." The song is similar to the original version, except with crowd noise and Rob making a few comments before and after the song ends. It seems like the tempo might be a little faster than normal. All I NeedAgain, a track that is pretty true to the original album cut. Guitarist Kyle Cook mixes things up a little bit, but not enough to change the overall flavor of the song.If You're GoneOn the packaging, this is listed as a live version, but it is actually an acoustic studio version with Rob Thomas on vocals and guitar. At the end Kyle Cook comes in. Overall a pretty good acoustic version of one of their biggest hits.DiseaseA stripped down acoustic version that features Rob Thomas and his guitar. I personally feel like this version is a little boring compared to the rest of the album. Not nearly as hard sounding as the album version.Suffer MeThis one is the real gem on the EP, and probably what most of the true MB20 fans bought the EP for. 'Suffer Me' was recorded during the "Mad Season" sessions, but it didn't make the album. For people who enjoy Rob Thomas' work with the band Tabitha's Secret, you'll really love this song. If I had to compare it to other MB20/TS songs, I would say it is a mix of "Tired," "So Sad, So Lonely," and "The Difference." Great LyricsThe enhanced live video is pretty entertaining, but some of the camera work is pretty shoddy. Parts of the video pixellate pretty bad, but overall it is good quality video. The five songs that appear in the live video are "Push," "Long Day," "You're So Real," "If You're Gone," and "Hand Me Down." There are also band member and fan interviews included.

More like the companion to "Show" than an EP
This CD isn't exactly that special - on its own. Unlike their other albums obviously, you won't find anything especially "essential" on this except for "Suffer me", their previously unreleased track dating from 2000. Although I gotta admit: the new rendition of "Crutch" is really cool, and the live version of "Push" only proves just how ageless and immortal this song is.But this EP gets REALLY interesting if you also happen to own the concert DVD "Show: A Night in the Life of Matchbox Twenty". Because these two combined make for a neat little story: how a humble live gig at the Troubadour in LA kicked off Matchbox Twenty's epic tour in 2003, as "recaptured" in Show.A historic moment seen in EP's video material is when Rob Thomas and guitarist Kyle Cook perform "If You're Gone" live and acoustic before an audience "for the first time". Because from hereon during their tour the only way you're going to hear "If You're Gone" is live and acoustic. All in all, if you either like MB20 THAT much or intend to fully enjoy the "Show" DVD, go ahead and buy this EP. If you don't have "Show" or have a short attention span, by all means pass. Even we need to save a little money.

more matchbox twenty!!!
I am very excited that this album is coming out! Everything that matchbox twenty has ever done has been golden!!! [Besides 'Damn', that is.] I'm picking it up first thing tomorrow!!!The only thing I'm disappointed about is that there's only one truly new song on this album. While I cannot wait to hear it - new material from mb20 always rocks - I wish they'd included more. They haven't released 'Heavy' or 'You and I and I' officially. There's also that song 'Happy' that guitarist Kyle Cook wrote that we heard about while they were working on Mad Season, and have we seen hide or hair of that? They also have some awesome cover songs like 'Time After Time' and 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' that would have really fit in well on this album. I hope they plan another one of these!!!~ deej
