We Belong to Gaia: James Lovelock (Green Ideas)

A good introduction to an important metaphor for the history of planet Earth
In working on my memoir that draws on 50 years of working to help conserve nature I came across Gaia and wanted to dig deeper into its meaning and relevance to understanding what is happening to planet Earth. James Lovelock is the father of this metaphor for our planet, arguing that Earth if a single self-regulating system that sustains all life on our planet. This brief introduction does not cover all the dimensions of Gaia, but certainly provides enough ideas to capture our interest and suggest how Gaia is relevant to other dimensions, such as biodiversity, sustainable development, and climate change. It convinced me to dig into Lovelock's more substantive books on Gaia so I can build on this metaphor to help understand how humanity can prosper on Earth without destroying its natural resources.

This book by James Lovelock - a uniquely objective, astute and open minded scientist is an essential tool for open mindedness mind
Recommended reading for anyone who sees inadequacies in the convention learnings from scientists or religions of differing “genres”. Eye opening

The guy is all over the shop
Yes I agree with the guy on some of the topics he covered but then he goes and says he cannot right it better than his mate could.Plus he gets onto a topic then starts talking about puberty???I had to read and reread most of the book. There must be something there as the book got published.

James Lovelock at his best
A lot of my intuitions about how earth works were summarily changed after reading James Lovelocks books. Honest, humble, clear and best of all an independent scientist. I am waiting for his next masterpiece!
