Great Ride but very Dangerous
Easy to learn, excellent ride quality, versatile terrain choices, awesome. On the other hand, based on my experience and what hundreds of users say on forums: you will fall and likely be injured, it is just a matter of time. The frustrating part is that it could be prevented by adding some simple safety features: 1. Fangs (wheels) under front 2. Audio warning when the motor senses that is being overloaded. When the motor is overloaded, it stops resulting in a sudden “nosedive”. I suffered major injuries due to an unexpected nosedive. There was no discernible “pushback” it happened 2-3 seconds after accelerating from a dead stop. The manufacturer is quick to say it is “user error” but I read all instructions, watched a dozen instructional videos and had 50+ miles of experience already when this happened. Snowboarded, skateboarded, surfed, windsurfed for over 20 years and never had injuries from those activities - except from this one. Wear a lot of protective equipment, and do not trust the board...

Just a concept
My board arrived DOA. Customer service so far has been ok. The board managed to turn on (when it wanted too), and I used board before I returned it to the company. As a board sport lover I really enjoyed the ride. Unfortunately, I’ve already experienced a issue we’re the board seems to just decide to turn off. This is like the equivalent of going over the handle bars on a bike. Not fun. I’m hoping this issue may also be resolved once the power issue is fixed, but probably just wishful thinking. I do enjoy riding the board that much that I’m willing to take the risk that comes with it. Because of the products inconsistency, I would not recommend this product to anyone that has not done extreme sports. There is innate ability to toe the line that most have who have done such sports. I feel like that ability is needed when using this product.

ONEWHEEL BUYERS BEWARE OF SAFETY ISSUES AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
BUYER BEWARE OF ONEWHEEL- safety issues and service - we purchased this about 3 months ago for our son. It was great at first. When I say great, I mean my son's favorite gift ever. He LOVED it. Then it seized up and threw our son off of it, also started making a weird noise. Contacted manufacturer immediately to let them know of problem and safety concern. They told us to take a screen shot of the display, provide serial number, etc (which we did). We even provided pics of injuries sustained from being thrown off. They said it looked fine and they told us to have our son ride it again to video the problem. Video it seizing up and being thrown off? We said it wasn't safe so no we were not allowing him to ride it in it's unsafe state. After about a week, they finally told us to send it to them. We had been offering to drive it / drop it off, etc. to any location. They said no, it must be shipped. We shipped it. Weeks have gone by. They keep telling us that they should be finishing diagnostics. We have told them that this is our son's main form of transportation and we will do anything needed to help expedite the repair. So after weeks of getting nowhere, no answers, no timeline, etc., we asked for them to repair and return to us or refund now. They have done neither and I believe this started about a month ago. They have terrible service. On the rare occasion you can get ahold of anyone, they just stall you (politely). Do not spend a crazy amount of money on a product that you cannot get service for, from a company who tells you to go ahead and ride the onewheel that seized up and threw you off, resulting in injuries. Scary!

Quick learn. I have never ridden a skateboard before ...
Quick learn. I have never ridden a skateboard before so this is my first experience! It took me about three rides to get fairly decent to go up and down the street with no issues. I first started out in my large office by myself- I took a rolling desk chair as my temporary support mechanism just to get acclimated to the board and it's controls. Next, I practiced cruising around the yard scaring the horses. I just got the board this afternoon - been on about four rides and I can tell you it's quite the work out in the abs, the ankles and the obliques. By the way I am 6'3", 53 years old and 225 lbs. I imagine as I ride more my weight will drop and my endurance will go up and maybe I'll have abs again :-)

Dangerous failures, serious injuries, and non existent customer service
The media could not be loaded. Onewheel board broke within 3-4 months of use. When stepping off the board, it would continue to accelerate and drive off on its own. This caused several severe falls, damage to my parked car (when the board drove into it), and is a huge risk if the board were to shoot into traffic.I spoke with Onewheel's customer service, who wouldn't take the issue seriously until I sent several videos showing the malfunction. Then, they took two months with the board and just sent the same faulty board back.

Fun BUT Dangerous
First of all, this thing is completely awesome. So, why did I give only 3 stars? Because it is dangerous as hell. Nosedives happen on these. They can happen suddenly, without warning and you may be scratching your head after trying to figure out what you did wrong. Yes, you did something wrong. You lifted part of your foot off the front foot pad. That is a problem for me because coming from skating and snowboarding, it is natural for the back of my heel to lift a little when I carve. If you lift your front heel on this thing, at whatever speed, the board will stop, pitch directly into the ground and you will hit harder and faster than you could possibly catch yourself. Even after my 25+ years of skateboarding I was amazed at how gnawed my wristguards got from just a few falls off this thing and thank g-d I was wearing a helmet. This "problem" is all over their community boards and I contacted Future Motion about it but their customer service is very good about deflecting any liability. That's why I say it's all "user error". This is how it works. If you fall, you are not using it correctly. But, this is how my body works, so if the onewheel cannot be adapted to respond to natural human motion, then unfortunately, it is amazing for what it is but is still not "there" yet. I considered selling mine because of the danger it posed but I would actually feel bad selling it to someone given the danger. I'll only sell to someone who already has one and knows and has accepted the risks.
