Brighter than the Sun: Lyndon Sisters, Book 2

Characters and wit that shine brighter than the sun
When a young, drunk, highly eligible earl falls out of a tree and onto one's foot, what's a young woman to do? Well, being ever practical, Eleanor Lyndon helps him up, dusts him down and takes him back to the village where he's left his carriage. The last thing she expects to recieve is a marriage proposal when a simple thank you would have sufficed. But Charles Wycombe, Earl of Billington, is desperate. He has two weeks left until he turns thirty, and if he's not married by then, he'll lose his fortune. There's no one in London he can bear to marry, but Ellie seems intelligent and witty enough - she'll do. After all, who'd refuse an earl?Ellie would. Ellie would absolutely love to, except her father's about to marry the gossip from hell, her sister is abroad and her hard earned investments are out of reach. The future looks bleak, so she has no alternative but to accept. All thing's considered, Charles is quite delighted with his spur-of-the-moment wife - apart from when she sets the kitchen on fire, kills the roses and causes some unidentified stench that covers the south wing. In fact accidents seem to follow Ellie around where she goes, and for a woman who is the epitome of capability she can't understand how. All she wants is to carve out a place for herself in her new life. Surely no one can argue with that, can they? This tale is an utter delight. Charles and Ellie are a wonderful pair. sparking wit, tension, frustration and excellent one-liners with every encounter. Some of the situations they encounter are nothing short of farcical, and always carried out with JQ's irrepressible sense of humour.A wonderful novel that definitely ranks as high as the 'Bridgertons' for me. Read it, enjoy it, then smile.

Loved it!
This is the second book in the Lyndon Sisters duet and in this one Eleanor takes centre stage. She is out for a walk when Charles, Earl of Billington falls into her life. He falls out of a tree, lands on her and soon has a surprising proposal for her. He must find a wife and Eleanor, known more as Ellie, needs to escape her stepmother.Their marriage is one of convenience only. Ellie is too strong and smart to fall for a man like Charles. But he has decided he will make her like him.I really enjoyed the first book but honestly I think I prefer this one. I like how strong willed Ellie is, and the sparring between her and Charles is so fun to read. The other characters in this book are a great mix and I loved reading the interactions Ellie has with them as she tries to navigate life as the new Countess. There is a steamy scene or two but I'm sure most romance readers will be fine with that. This can be read without reading Everything and the Moon, as Ellie is a smaller character in that and its in this story that we really get to know her properly.I've throughly enjoyed both books in this duet, and I hope one day the author decides to revisit the lives of Ellie and Charles, and Victoria and Robert.

Worth Reading
Charles Wycombe, Earl of Billington, needs a wife before his thirtieth birthday or he'll lose his fortune. Ellie Lyndon need a way out before her soon-to-be new stepmother marries her off to the village idiot. It's a marriage of convenience plot I which the two of them find love after they are wed. Not as good as Quinn's later novels, but still worth reading.

A marriage of convenience
This is the second in the London series but both books stand alone. In this book, an Earl literally falls at the feet of Elinor Lyndon and proposes marriage the same day. He is proposing a marriage of convenience so he can keep his inheritance if he is married by his 30th birthday. Ellie has reasons of her own for agreeing to this but they both have very hot tempers! Ellie struggles in her role as countess and believes she is being sabotaged but no one believes her. Later on, things rake a more sinister turn.I really enjoyed it but was obviously in the mood for it. Ellie and Charles make constant threats to kill each other, strangle each other etc etc but it is all in good humor and we know isn't serious. The path to true love does not run smoothly at all for these two... but I liked them both a lot. This is a very light read and not to be taken seriously if you want to enjoy it!

Very funny
Flippant but highly enjoyable. I kept sniggering all through the book. Highly recommended for a mood booster. Great banter and a rollicking story.

No disappointment once again
Julia Quinn never ceases to amaze me.Whatever the subject matter involved in creating her characters it gathers quickly into believable people and therefore wherever she takes us we follow her story line from page to page. It’s all over too quickly, yet there is a teaser in her Epilogue leaving one’s mind to revolve into her world as far as we can go.Read on !

Incroyable
