I thought I was getting a push button cast but it was not. However, it was a nice beginner fishing rod. Just keep in mind that the directions were not ideal for stringing a line, and the lures were sub par. My little ones loved it once they got the hang of it. And I LOVE how it compacts into a nice small traveling bag.

Great to go Fishing Kit. Everything you need. Easy to use and works well. Not some cheap kit but a good rod and reel for the kiddos to learn and use. Adults can also use. Great for in the car and lets try this pond. Very Happy

After trying a few telescopic rod/reel options on the market, I've definitely found Plusinno's to be my favorite. For one thing, they actually collapse down into the most compact package while still being true, full 6/7/8' rods when extended. That allows me to store one in, for example, my hydropack while our riding my bike so I can stop by ponds along the way and throw a few casts.This was my first such combo explicitly marketed for kids, but rest assured that it makes for a great ultra lightweight setup for targeting pan fish or just feeling more of the fight when going for larger species (though I wouldn't try for a new PB on it!). Because it's marketed for kids, I took my own kids to a local pond and let them try it out while also putting it through the paces myself. In this review I'll provide both feedback from all of us.To start, the overall packaging is quite nice, especially the included carrying case. The reel comes pre-spooled with monofilament so it's ready to use immediately. I'll comment more on that below, though. The included lures and terminal tackle are fine, though I've only used the EWG hooks from it for rigging some of my own soft plastics. The rod is very light and, while it does feel like a small step down from Plusinno's other telescopic rod/reel combos in terms of materials, they're still quite decent. I opted for the 6' variant in black. The reel is smaller capacity but still has a standard 5.2:1 gear ratio for reasonably quick retrieval, and it secures into the rod well.The thing I noticed when first casting it is that I didn't really like the pre-spooled line. This is more preference-based, though, and there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the included line. I generally spool my reels with half mono base and half braid followed by a fluoro leader. That combination results in VERY smooth, long casts and good sensitivity to bites. To be fair, when rigged with a slightly heavier soft plastic, the casting distance on the pre-spooled line was actually much better than expected, though with anything light it can be difficult to cast. For this review I kept the line as-shipped, but I'm likely going to re-spool it as described above just based on personal preference.Because the whole setup is more lightweight in nature, when you do get a bite it makes for a FUN fight! I certainly felt that way, and I heard the same from my kids after landing several decent bass on various Texas-rigged soft plastics. The rod bent over nicely but held firm, and there were no issues on the retrieve (once the drag was properly set!).For the asking price, this is a great deal. You get a solid telescopic rod/reel combo that's well-tuned for younger kids but also really fun as an ultra lightweight setup for any angler. The whole thing collapses down into very compact packaging that fits into the included carrying case. It's ready to use out-of-the-box, though as I said above, I'll re-spool the reel and carry some additional tackle, all based on personal preferences.

I got the rod to be a backpacking rod that is lightweight and I could easily carry with me on trips. It fits this role perfect after I made some essential upgrades.The tackle that comes with is very nice and I was able to use some of it on my first time using the rod. The lures that it comes with are nice too but a little large for fish I am comfortable catching with this rod. A 14 inch trout was enough of a struggle to be fun but I don't know if it can take much more.The line that it comes with is cheap and ended up coming off the spool in the first few hours and making the rod not usable. I planned on buying my own line and putting it on (all rods within this price range will have very cheap line). I was still able to use the rod and catch fish with the line that came with it. I am saying this because I know tangles can make it a struggle to fish with children. The only reason I am giving it a 4 star is because it failed on me while fishing. If you are changing the line when you get this rod I would say it is a 5/5 choice for you.

It’s smaller then I was expecting. I bought it for my 12 year old son but decided to give it to my 10 year old daughter instead do to size. It’s a cute set and will get a lot of use this spring and summer.

very cute and nicely packaged, however the line on the reel came knotted up, very disappointing for my grand daughter, I have to have someone put new line on the reel, otherwise nice beginners pole.

What a great little 4wt kit. I love that the rod is collapsible. It is surprisingly sturdy and has a great action. The reel is smooth as butter thanks to 3 ball bearings, and when paired to the rod, it is surprisingly strong for longer casting. The rod feels great in hand, and both my 6 year old daughter, and 12 year old son, are loving it. For the price, it really cannot be beat. Comes with a nice little lure box, the crank bait and jigs that it comes with straight up catch fish. The rod has a very lightweight feel, while at the same time it feels strong enough for bigger fish than you'd think possible with a collapsible 4wt rod and reel. Plus, it really is a good lookin little setup. It even comes with a nice little bag. If you have kids, you should grab one or two for sure.I'm amazed at the quality and performance of this kit, especially for the low price tag. I will be buying another one in pink for my daughter.
