This heating pad surprised me. It works very well.I was looking for a large heating pad to treat my lower back muscle spasm. This is the first time I have had a back spasm and boy does it hurt.I saw this pad and was intrigued. I have never used a heating pad which warms up in the microwave. To tell the truth, I was very skeptical.Well, this company proved me wrong. This heating pad does indeed get toasty warm in my microwave in 1 1/2 minutes of warming time. If I want to extend my treatment time then I put the pad back into the microwave at 40-second intervals when it cools.The size is what I would call medium and not large. Vertically, it covers my spine from shoulder to hip bone. However, the sides only cover about 80 % of my back so it isn't as wide as I would have liked.Horizontally, it works nicely. I can cover the entire muscle spasm area from left to right with the pad going about midway up my back.I'm very impressed with the Velcro strap idea. The pads hold in place rather well. The straps are a bit awkward to attach but I'm a senior citizen and don't have the range of motion I used to have. Eventually, I'm going to cut the straps off and attach new Velcro to the strap ends to make an elastic belt out of the straps. I will place the heating pad where I want it and simply wrap the Velcro strap around me. That should do the trick.You can't lay on electric heating pads. This pad you can. You can also move around to your heart's content too. I'm also planning on using the pad on the floor and setting my feet on it to help with my foot pain.The fabric is soft to the touch so as I get used to how long to warm the pad in the microwave then I will be able to use this pad directly on my skin.This is a USA made product which I prefer.Here is an unusual twist. The company puts healing herbs into the heating pad. I love the smell of this pad when it gets warm. The pad needs to be stored in the freezer to keep the herbs fresh.The pad can be used cold too much like an ice pack. Simply don't warm it up when you take it out of the freezer.When I warmed the pad, it seemed to stay warm for about 20 minutes. When it cools then I can re-warm the pad at 40-second intervals to extend the treatment time.So if you are wondering if a microwavable heating pad works then I can tell you from experience that it does. The scent is gorgeous! It also warmed up, and cooled off easily. My main issue with this pack was the Velcro. It tore only after a couple of uses.

My daughter suffered a back injury in gymnastics earlier this year and this weighted hot pack has been a lifesaver. She uses it practically every day. The weight is great because it helps the heat to stay against her back so it can better permeate. The weight is not so heavy as to be uncomfortable, but just enough to keep the pack firmly and comfortably in place. Smells great too! The straps are super handy because it holds it in place and still allows for the wearer to move around. I would definitely recommend!

Love the design, easy to put on, wish it could be heated more , would like it to be hotter, afraid it will burn the materials used to make it.

We ordered this heating pad as it is wider than other versions. It was two velcro straps instead of one, allowing the user to position the pad vertically along the spine and attach the straps around your shoulder - like a backpack. It has a pleasant scent when heated and the channels are tight and secure, keeping the contents in place and not sagging/puddling to the bottom. Highly recommend.

I couldn't even get it to heat up and hung over my back to use because too hard feeling and too big for microwave

Isn't up to my expectations. I have one similar that was much better--about 10 years old, green, about 2" longer, 1&1/2" wider, a little heavier and stayed hotter longer. It is still usable but with 2 small tears in it, was used 2-4 times a day. Loved it! It cost about the same, $30 some, was comfortable while sitting, but a little heavy while working. The insides were (I think) corn or something similar. The main problem is that recently the Velcro wasn't sticking anymore.

heats easily in microwave. the long Velcro straps allow it to be worn along center of back (getting between shoulder blades, one of my trouble spots) or around waist (for lower back). stays warm for quite a while (no time measurements); I usually forget I have it on by the time it cools.
