Useful book
This book serves an obvious purpose - to be read to expat Indian children to prepare them for the cultural shock of visiting family in India for the first time. It also helpfully lets them practise their Hindi/English (whichever is their second language). Mina goes on a plane from America to India to visit her grandparents and is at first unsettled by how different things are in India (the strange traffic and noises and different ways of cooking and washing etc) - she ends up outside having a cry. But after a little encouragement, she comes out of her shell.Just one warning - part of the story is that Mina does a puja, which I would've liked to know before I bought it because our family isn't Hindu and I wasn't planning on teaching my son about other religions until he's a little bit older (or he asks). But I'm planning on gluing those particular pages together and the story isn't affected by missing it.The illustrations are drawn like children's drawings.Like all bilingual children's books, this is great for adult learners wanting to practise their Hindi (or English) as well.
