Great Buy
The item is exactly as described and definitely a great savings over what GM or a dealer wants for one. It comes with a battery already in it. However, not every locksmith (automotive or otherwise) wants to program them for a reasonable amount (one quoted $152, which is about what it would cost to get it from GM or a dealer). After calling them, I ended up going to my Chevy dealer and they programed it for $29.95 like they said they would after warning me that third party on-line devices don't always work. It took about an hour since I still had the original remote (in a damaged case, but it still worked), so they had to un-program it and then program both of them at the same time so one wouldn't cancel out the other (I'm not sure I understand that, but it didn't cost any extra). This is now my primary remote and it has worked great for the couple of months that I have had it.

Pros and cons
The body around the remote does not quite close all the way. There is a gap in between where the body should close. The actual buttons themselves are sunk into the body itself because the body is to tall. What i did was just took the button pad from this one and put it in my old one and it works alot better now. I just use the other one for a backup incase i lock my keys in my car sometime.Everything is new and looks nice. It comes with a battery which is nice. But dealerships do want to charge 25 dollars to get it programed and you cant do it yourself unless you have a special machine. Luckily i have a friend that works at a gm dealership. Everything about this is nice except the body has some issues. If u already have a body then you could put the chip and the buttons in that old one and it would work better.

The real deal
I am so impressed with this remote. I contacted an automotive locksmith to reprogram the key. He said that a lot of keys bought off of Amazon and Ebay do not work. I was a little embarrassed that I fell for a faulty product but figured that I should try it anyways. The locksmith was quite impressed that the remote I bought had a remote start as well as being perfectly functional. He asked me where I got it and I smugly replied "Amazon".

I didn't have any problem with this key fob. ...
I didn't have any problem with this key fob. The dealership guy made a face when I said it was from Amazon. It cost some money to get them to program it, but now I can warm up my car from the comfort of my bed. I'm guessing that maybe the people who's key fobs didn't work, have other issues that don't allow the key fob to work or maybe they somehow got a defective key fob. Mine works perfectly, and it only took an hour to fix.

becuase I could cross the contacts w/ a wet finer and trigger the remote
I bought this to salvage the rubber from it. Didn't want to pay dealer, so I swapped out my fob innards with this case. I knew the problem with my old one was wear and tear, becuase I could cross the contacts w/ a wet finer and trigger the remote. So, basically, my old programming remains intact because the brains of the chip is intact, just ensconsed in a new "sleeve."Worked perfectly.

Works as expected!
I bought this item based on previous reviews, and it has met all expectations. I recommend calling the service departments of SEVERAL dealers because programming charges vary widely. One dealer quoted me $65 for EACH remote, while another quoted $75 for BOTH. Guess which one I used?? The service advisor did say they would not guarantee it would work, but again, I felt comfortable with that and it works just fine. I would buy from this vendor again.

2004 Chevy Mailibu Key FOB
The KEY FOB is fine, the activation is ridiculously expensive by either a Dealer, or a mobile lock Smith which costs for the visit fee plus the activation fee, just under $100.00.Some one might know a better procedure for this.A warning could be posted on the site or these impending expenses. The supplier was frank and truthful, there is an information piece included with the FOB.

Reliable and good quality
Went to the Chevy dealer and they told me it would be a couple hundred to get a new fob and have it programmed so I went online with the part number and found this. It's worked well and lasted longer than the parts that came with the car and is still ticking like a TImex. I would definitely get this again and the best part is that I was out under $100 to replace and program it.
