Pleasantly Surprised
I downloaded this as it was free at the time and a good way to try an author I had never read before. Unfortunately a lot of the time you realise that the book is free for a very good reason - it is rubbish. Not so with this.A slightly different storyline though a little predictable at times. Some quite strong characters but I can't believe that Nicole could ever forgive Veronica for all the heartless, selfish stunts that she pulled. I don't care if they are twins - trust and forgiveness can only stretch so far.Yes I read this book right to the end. Yes I am a little curious as to how things work out for Jake in the next book. If it was available for free on Unlimited I would definitely read that. But to pay for it - really not sure.

Two Broken Souls
I haven’t read a Lexi Ryan book is forever, I can’t think why as this was a really enjoyable romance.Nicole is getting married to the man of her dreams, except she thinks he might not be, because she heard him on the phone the night before when he told someone “he couldn’t stop thinking about you.” All is confirmed as her identical twin sister throws up over her dress and announces she’s pregnant with his baby.To escape Nic heads to the airport and finds herself with the wrong handbag. She heads off to her sister’s new job as a nanny several hours flight away. This was the not the only disaster of epic proportions that Nic has had in her love life, but she needs to be away from the sister that she loves, but chose to betray her.In the blurb it implies that Nic sets off to take her sister’s place, but that isn’t the case, which I was pleased about because I really hate that kind of thing. Apparently Nic does too, as she feels that she’s been left to deal with the fallout from another one of her sister’s schemes.Ethan is a doctor. He has a gorgeous 6 year old daughter and as he is called out to deliver babies in the middle of the night he needs a nanny because his mother is going travelling. His mother helped raise his daughter, after his wife died 3 years previously. Ethan only has casual relationships because he won’t let his or his daughter’s heart be broken again, when someone they love leaves them. The story covers what happens when two broken souls meet, don’t want a relationship, but are really attracted to each other and then force them to spend time together.I really liked Nic, she really tries hard to do the right thing. She puts others before herself, which though in moderation is a good quality, is not when it jeopardises your own happiness. She is trying to learn that lesson and when Ethan is obnoxious, he makes it really easy to tell him off.We see a lot of progress on each of the main characters’ emotional problems before the HEA, which I really like. I also really liked the family, which was obviously intentional as this is the first book in a series about the large and gorgeous family. It was well written and the characters were sympathetic. The set up is a bit outrageous but it was handled with deft hands that made it believable.I may well give the next book a go.

Beautiful tale
Main characters: Nicole Maddox, the wronged would-be bride and incurable romantic, Ethan Jackson, her one-night distraction, who becomes so much more.Plot: Nicole Maddox has always had a bad track record with love, but she keeps trying. When the most recent disaster involves her twin sister admitting she’s pregnant, and the father is Nicole’s fiancé – enough is enough. It’s time to get out of Dodge. She grabs her sister’s bag by mistake but decides to hop on the plane her sister was supposed to take to her new life. A new town where nobody knows her could be just the thing. Her first night in Jackson Harbor has her drowning her sorrows and also trying hard not to stare at the brooding-but-devastatingly-handsome-stranger in the bar. She doesn’t need any more issues with the opposite sex, but maybe he could temporarily distract her from her life that has just imploded…When Nicole resolves to stick around in Jackson Harbor for a while to lick her wounds – an opportunity presents itself. A job as a nanny to a little girl, that her sister was supposed to be starting. Taking it means having to pretend to be her, a masquerade she’s not altogether comfortable with, but needs must. When her boss turns out to be Dr. Ethan Jackson – aka the brooding god in the bar, Nicole’s love life goes from complicated to impossible. Can she stop herself from falling and keep track of all the lies piling up around her?Why you should read it: Oh my goodness! This book made me feel everything! Your heart will break for Nicole – she gets treated so badly, when all she ever wanted was a home, a family and love. You’ll laugh at the situations she finds herself in and you’ll swoon with her interactions with Ethan. (When they’re not killing each other.) This book had it all. I’d tear up one chapter, laugh out loud the next and fan myself in others. It also leads nicely into the other books which will feature Ethan’s brothers. (More hot demi-gods – help!) They’re all gorgeous! What you may not like: It’s not all sunshine and roses. The book does deal with some very serious issues – depression is becoming ever more prevalent in our society and the way the author dealt with the subject matter in this book was smart and reverent. I don’t know what you wouldn’t like about the story – it was water tight in my opinion.Rating: 5/5 for a gripping, romantic, sad and sexy story. I can’t wait for more in this series!

Loved this read
Nic had been through soo much to find out on your wedding that your fiancée had got your twin sister pregnant was not good. Leaving the mess behind her she ended up with her sisters purse and decided to take the job her sister was supposed to as a nanny to a widowed doctor. Unbeknown to Nic the first night in the new town resulted in her meeting up with the said person and getting drunk . Ethan had not interviewed her sister for the job so was not aware of any connection until the next morning when turning up for the job realising this was the person he had spent time with the night before. Ethan's mother knew but was desperate that Lily Ethan's daughter had a nanny she asked that Nic kept quiet, plus she asked for another favour from Nic which she wasn't happy to keep but did so explaining she wouldn't be staying long . Ethan also has secrets ones that in time Nic would relate to . Ethan also had an attraction to Nic which he was fighting on a daily basis . If he fell would Nic fall with him . Really enjoyed this book .
