excellent beginners knives, my first attempt to carve a ball in a box was made very easy with this set . honing compound lasts forever and does a great job of sharpening up your tolls when used with a piece of rough and smooth leather. excellent value for money

I recently upgraded to the Flexcut 3 Starter 2-Piece Knife Set, and I'm so glad I did! After struggling with cheap, dull knives, these Flexcut blades have completely transformed my wood carving experience.The difference in sharpness is immediately noticeable. These knives arrived razor-sharp and have held their edge beautifully, significantly reducing the need for frequent stropping. This means I can spend more time enjoying my hobby and less time maintaining my tools.The quality of these knives is outstanding, far surpassing the cheaper alternatives I've used in the past. They feel comfortable and well-balanced in my hand, allowing for precise cuts and intricate detailing.The inclusion of the stropping compound block is a nice touch, even though I already had some on hand. It's a great addition for beginners who are just starting to build their toolkit.If you're serious about wood carving and want to invest in a quality starter set, the Flexcut 3 is an excellent choice. Great whitling knives - very expensive but worth it. Their shape is nice to the hand and they are very sharp, a sharpness which is easily maintained using the sharpening compound and a leather strop. The only slight issue I have had is with the smaller knife - the tip (last 3mm ish) - bends quite easily. On reflection I would have preferred just the larger knife on its own, bought a leather strop and some sharpening compound separately. Apparently you can even use toothpaste as a compound to sharpen your knife on a strop.

I have tried a few whittling knifes and they are all a bit of a struggle. I eventually thought wood carving is just not for me. Once I received these they were razor sharp out the box and I was carving cleanly with them. These knives have been a game changer for me. Makes the experience much more pleasurable.

As a beginner, this whittling kit has been perfect - good value too. One thing that might be worth pointing out is that you need to use a leather belt (or some other strip of leather) to sharpen the knives using the compound

I am really pleased with my purchase and looking forward to making some delightful carvings with them. They have good feel in the hand a great balance to use.

I bought these knives as a present for my son-in-law who wanted to try whittling. They are very sturdy and do the job well.
