Nice Polymer Beads to Heat Up and Mold Shapes--Even Make Repairs.
I bought this with my granddaughter in mind since she is creative and clever with her hands. For the longest time I searched for somethings to use this mold/repair "plastic" on.The 10 oz. package holds white pellets that can be heated and then molded. The suggested temperature of 150 degrees didn't get the pellets in a bowl to turn clear--ready for molding. The temperature was closer to 180 degrees. That said, you want to be careful of not burning your hands. So, when the water got a little cooler, I'd reach in and pinch off some of the clear plastic and start molding it to repair a mug handle. I tried putting the softened plastic on the inside of the break, but that didn't work. The softened plastic begins to harden, and it's easy to remove at first. In fact, it gets a little stringy. So, molding the softened plastic around the outside of the mug handle worked best. Of course there are two obvious things to be aware of: 1) the dried plastic is white, and the mug's repair would be compromised by hot temperatures around 150 degrees.I also made a stopper for a plastic test tube. I put coconut oil around the edges (inside and outside). Shazam! It worked, and in fact, it even unscrewed. It isn't a work of art, but hey, it works! As long as high temperatures or a white outer surface aren't a problem, this stuff is great! I know other projects will probably pop out at me after using it.I did receive this at a discounted price in return for a candid and unbiased review of the product based on my personal experience with it.
