They work great. They make cool little designs
This product has been overly criticized by some people, in my opinion. I bought two. They work great. They make cool little designs. Great for my 8 year old. She loves it. There is a learning curve. It is important to keep the nozzle clean. And, we kept a damp paper towel around to take cured bits of ink off the nozzle when you don't move the pen fast enough, or for some other reason it hardens on the nozzle. But, in general it is an enjoyable activity. It is a simple technology. The liquid ink is pushed out of the nozzle by a plunger much like a caulk gun, except the Polyes q1 has an electric motor driving the plunger. The ink/curing technology is essentially the same as dentists have been using for decades to seal teeth, and also something like the technology behind one of my daughters' gel nails that beautician's use for longer lasting nails. The pen's "ink" is simply a polymer that cures with UV light like the beautician's or dentist's UV light. Like gel nails there is still a slight bit of stickiness after the curing process. But, also like Gel Nails, you simply clean with alcohol and the residual stickiness goes away, if you have any left after putting in the sun.I like the product a great deal. So, does my kid.
