A Most Valuable Tool
Job Search & Career Building Workbook: 2016 Edition - Mastering the Art of Personal Branding Online via Blogging, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter & More After reading this book I immediately passed it on to a grandson who has been actively but unsuccessfully looking for employment. The down to earth common sense manner in which this book is written is so refreshing yet so expected from a Jason McDonald publication. The information on using social media as a tool for job searching is invaluable and such a plus for the younger generation who already spend a good amount of time on social media for entertainment. This is not a boring how-to manual but an informative job search tool that is surprisingly humorous. The website links to additional free worksheets is a plus. This book is so beneficial in instructing you how to brand and market yourself online. This workbook is a must read for anyone looking for employment or looking to reinvent themselves in a new career direction. Thank you Jason McDonald. I received this workbook for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review however my review would have been the same had I purchased it.

Great book for Recent College Graduates
This book came in the right time for me. I have recently graduated from college with major in business management, and I did not have a clue where to start. I had many failed interviews, and never responded emails. I tried to change my resume many times ( I have a lot of experience, and many internships),but that did not work out. Then,I started my search, and I read many books, until I came upon this one. I wanted to increase my Internet presence and create my personal brand. Mr. Mc Donald explains why is important to create public you, and how to do it well. The book also concentrates on the perspective of hiring managers. It was very interesting for me to read how hiring managers think and try to put myself in their shoes. It really helped me, and I started to see where I was making mistakes. I especially liked how Mr. McDonald explained all the ways to create our personal brand by mentioning Fb, Linkedin, Twitter, Youtube,etc... The chapter I found most useful is one about Linkedin and how to present myself in the best light. I listened to Mr. McDonald and I started increasing my presence, and brainstorming about my personal brand image and blog I want to start. I would highly recommend everyone this book, because it's very useful and it is real how to, not one of those general books about job search.

Job Searching in the 2016 era
My review of Job Search & Career Workbook by Jason McDonald, PH.D; in it Mr McDonald covers the bases of how to find employment by networking with other people professionally online by using social media and how to grow your career at the same time. Just as some people do it by researching companies over the web, employers search you out on facebook, twitter, linkedin.com and several other websites. Mr McDonald shows you how to research yourself over the web, tells you how hiring managers check out prospective employees on fb, twitter, linkedin, pinterest and tumblr. By reading this book, it has shown me that what you post online from pictures to cute graphics to vulgar language can damage your chances of being hired by anyone in your city, state and even out of state. So seeing that friend of yours post that weird stuff on fb, you will later hear them complain how they cant get hired and you will know why. Or you will hear about the lady at your children’s school post pictures about how the school is exceeding in arts and crafts and see her awarded with compliments. People don’t realize now that this happens as well, they get arrested and their picture becomes property of their police department on facebook, that will ruin your chances of ever finding that dream job you want.

Take courage and this book and go for it.
Landing the job of our dreams rarely happens by accident and can’t happen at all if using the methods of even a few years ago, let alone previous generations. By following the step by step advice in Jason McDonald’s new book, the mystery and fear of a seemingly daunting task is removed. Jason explains the search and hiring process, details the profound role of Social Media, then guides the reader through all the necessities of making the best professional impression across all the major social platforms. This is not a book of theory and promises. It’s a workbook. Along with the work to be done are explanations of the reasons for doing it. Those reasons broaden one’s perspective to reveal what employers are thinking, what and how they are searching for employees. Among so many “How To” and "To Do” instructions you’ll find posting and tweet strategies and the subtle differences in the focus between media formats. It’s the next best thing to having a personal coach. If you know what career field you are going for, and are willing to put the time in, this book will help you reach your goal. In todays market it may be more daunting for many over 50, but all the same rules apply. I own all of Jason McDonald's books, and have hired him as an SEO consultant, so I was pleased to receive this book to review. You will not be disappointed. Take courage and this book and go for it!
