Definite limitations; Definite potential
I read and saw on YT negative reviews about this mini-axe; but the design intrigued me. It needs two inches longer is the problem, and I think I can do that without too much grief by replacing the bottom spacer with one that sticks out further. Then I believe it might be a five star backup survival tool.In the meantime I put a little cord two fingers wide from the bottom hole, and two fingerwidths of distance make all the difference between "pecking" and a much more satisfying chop. With this bit of lanyard on the bottom two fingers you have perfect control and trimming modest tree branches it worked well for a mini-axe, whereas holding it properly and "pecking" at the wood got me nowhere. From a self defense standpoint, provided you get your fingers in that loop properly, this is quite capable of penetrating a skull, but holding it normally and "pecking" I have my doubts. If you think of it as an odd knife, you may want to leave it as it is. Reversed it makes a gnarly karambit, closed it's a hell of a (spiked!) kubotan, or a light morningstar if you take the advice on that little loop of cord. All around well made as far as I can tell; arrived sharp & I tuned it up further.Good idea really, they wanted to make an axe fit in a pocket and succeeded, but pocketsize is just a little too small.
