Big dynamics and stunning detail
I held in-home demoes of several headphone amps with stereo preamp capability prices between $1000 and $3000 before settling on the NuPrime HPA-9. This amp punches far above its weight. Detail and dynamics are awesome, even if it doesn’t offer quite the same level of enveloping soundstage as the most expensive tube models. For example, as a preamp, it offered better clarity and detail than the Hegel P20, better dynamics than the Woo WA-22, and was more life like than the Rogue RP-1. It’s a giant killer. Too bad it hasn’t received much recognition from the pro reviewers. I use it with Fostex TH6XX Purpleheart and Shure SRH-1840 headphones, and I feel it matches very well with both. Black background.

and full bodied is what this amp sounds like. Not that lean and bright - unnatural crap
This amp has plenty of power to drive orthos do ear bleeding levels. In fact all of the Hifimans get exceptionally loud without clipping or distorting except for the HE6.Warm, clear, separated, detailed, and full bodied is what this amp sounds like. Not that lean and bright - unnatural crap. Highly recommended for the money and competes very well against much higher priced amps.
