Too bad!
I was so disappointed- the grackles figured this one out in a day and the small birds seemed baffled! Item returned.

Hard to refill, poor quality materials
This feeder was very popular with my birds. I think they felt secure inside the cage and the squirrels pretty much left it alone. The problem I had was in refilling it. The feeder contains a metal rod that is threaded at both ends. When you unscrew the top piece, the rod often unscrews at the bottom, which makes it difficult to get it reassembled if you've already poured in the birdseed. Also, the threaded ends of the rod are barely long enough to get the top piece to screw back on. After a summer, the top piece would no longer stay screwed on. I was careful not to strip the threads, but since the metal was so cheap, the top piece started slipping off the threaded rod and the whole thing would crash to the ground. I had to throw the feeder away. If you want to take a chance with it, the birds seem to like the feeder, even if refilling it is a huge pain. You can get it cheaper at Menards.

there's no easy way for the birds to get the last inch ...
Unlike our last feeder, this one is primarily metal and thus resists squirrel damage and theft. It's attractive and holds a reasonable quantity of seeds. But the design has a potentially dangerous flaw: there's no easy way for the birds to get the last inch of seed. One hungry little chickadee decided to go inside--and then got so wedged she could not get out! Luckily we were able to save her..

Worst bird feeder ever!!
Worse bird feeder ever! When you unscrew the top the long screw is also connected to the base and the entire bird feeder comes apart causing the food to fall out. So you have to screw in the base then attach the top again. Very poor design!! Don’t buy!!
