Good quality
I already have a couple of selfie sticks but this is by far my favorite.I chose this selfie stick for a couple of reasons. I take a lot of photos using my cell phone camera but sometimes I really need a tripod. My previous favorite selfie stick had a universal threaded hole at the base of the handle so you could mount it to a standard camera tripod. But the handle was rubber and the metal connector quickly came loose. Even when glued on it would wobble and that would be exacerbated by my worn old tripod. The selfie stick/monopodThe Sinnofoto monopod/selfie stick has a solid plastic handle with the threaded tripod mount hole properly secured so it doesn’t wobble and it has a much more professional heavy duty mounting head. It uses a kind of metal ball joint that is solidly clamped by a threaded lever knob. The ball in the joint is compressed and held tightly as you tighten the lever with no give whatsoever. The ball extends into a threaded post that fits most cameras including my compact DSLR. A rubber backed disk is screwed onto the threaded post to create a platform to hold and stabilize your camera. The ball joint has pitch, roll and yaw rotation. It rotates about 15 degrees in any direction but there is a slot in the ball joint that allows for about 110 degrees pitch towards the person holding the stick. That’s a little more than parallel with the handle plus 360 degrees of yaw (twist). The cradleThe other thing I like is that it comes with a separate cell phone cradle which has spring clamping to grip a phone on each side.It works fine with my 5.5 inch screen cell phone. The cradle expands to 3 inches and has textured rubber grips with a raised front edge to stop your phone popping out. The rubber is a harder grade which will not give enough to release the phone without a lot of force. The cradle has two threaded tripod mounting holes so it can be used not only with the Sinnofoto stick but with pretty much any regular camera tripod. When mounted on a tripod head which has good angles of rotation, you can mount your cell phone to take photos in either landscape or portrate orientation. The selfie stick.I’ve already mentioned the mounting head which is of exceptional quality. But the rest of the stick is very good too. The stick has four segments including the handle. It extends 32 inches from the base of the handle to roughly the center of your cell phone screen and each segment has a twist lock mechanism which allows you to vary the length very precisely from 11 – 32 inches. The handle is made of a hard plastic which was initially a disappointment. But then I remembered the problems with the tripod mount at the base of my rubber handled selfie stick and it didn’t take long for me to get to like this one. It may be hard plastic but it has a nice ergonomic moulded grip that is contoured to fit any size hand well. The handle has built in Bluetooth remote control and is powered by a small internal battery. A row of four buttons running down the top 1/3 of the handle let you:Turn the remote on and off,Pair with your Bluetooth device,Toggle between Apple and Android functionality.Take a snapshotAlso at the base of the handle next to the tripod mounting hole is a MicroUSB socket for charging the battery. The battery is low capacity since it only has one function. It doesn’t need more, and because it is small it only takes a few minutes to charge.AccessoriesIf you’re not using the threaded hole at the base of the handle for tripod mounting, the stick comes with a lanyard wrist strap attached to a cap that screws into the threaded base which is nice. You also get a USB to MicroUSB cable for charging the selfie stick. In UseThe Sinnofoto selfie stick is the best I have used so far. I don’t use it so much for taking selfies but more as a monopod tripod mount for taking photographs. It’s strong and rigid and grips either your cell phone or camera very well. Even my older heavy compact DSLR camera is held very securely. The handle screws down onto a tripod securely. These days my worn tripod has more give in it than this selfie stick. I will have to replace that soon.If you’re going to use this as a selfie stick, you can wave your phone around quite vigorously and not worry that it will come loose. Just be careful if you’re waving it around. You can still damage the phone if you wield the stick like a club and don’t take care.It charges quickly. Bluetooth pairing with the phone is very easy. On my android phone it shows up in the Bluetooth settings list as KS-01. I included a photo of that.Another nice thing is that there are LEDs on each side of the Android/Apple toggle. The Apple LED lights up on the left side when in Apple mode while a blue one lights up on the right side when set to Android.I tried several popular Android apps. The default camera, ProShot, Camera FV-5 all worked flawlessly. I noticed that if you hold down the photo button it will take a sequence. But it will pause between photos and not just create a video stream of still shots. I suppose some people might like a stream. But one of my old selfie sticks would take dozens of pics if you gripped the stick hard leaving you with a lot work and potentially using up your storage really quickly.ConclusionI’m no expert but I really like this stick. I almost didn’t get it. I thought I was done with selfie sticks after the disappointment of the previous two. But this one does have a much more professional design, fit and finish. It’s also a little longer than some of the more compact ones. Plus it’s very rigid and has a very nice head mount that lets you set up the camera very securely with more angles than most. The ball joint is not plastic and is very secure. I like that the mount is universal for any camera and a separate cradle holds the phone. The stick itself can be mounted securely on a universal tripod. Controls are simple and easy to use with good mode indication. The battery is rechargeable and charges quickly.I really can’t think of anything negative to say. It might be a bit more expensive but the quality easily makes it worth it. And it’s good for more than just taking selfies. It’s a useful addition to any camera setup.Disclaimer: I received this selfie stick in exchange for an honest and fair review. Better than the Average Monopod
I have worked with a lot of selfie sticks and I have seen a wide variation in quality and features. I have a fair idea of what makes a good monopod, and this one is one of the better ones I have used. It is made well and it has some good features that make it better than many I have seen and used. There are two main types of selfie sticks. There are Bluetooth sticks that pair the shutter via Bluetooth and this particular stick fall in that category. There are also the type that connect via the 3.5mm audio jack. There are advantages and disadvantages to each, and I cannot say one approach is better than the other. It really depends on what you want or need.I paired this stick to my iPhone and it was effortless. It identifies itself as “KS-01” and it pairs and connects quickly and easily. I was immediately able to use it to activate my phone’s shutter and take pictures. There is a button on the handle that allows for switching between iOS and Android so it will work with either. It is not going to work at all with a Windows phone – I no longer have a Windows phone, but when I did I tried to pair remote shutters to it and they would connect then disconnect immediately. I imagine this one will do the same. There are a couple of different designs that I have seen when it comes to the actual pole. The cheapest and most basic sticks are straight telescoping units that extend by pulling. These are the simplest to use and work but they are also the weakest. This particular monopod uses a twist-pull-twist design to extend and hold in place. This requires a better shape and stronger tubing on the arm and as a result this monopod can hold a bit more weight without bending. I like this design. The harness is a straight spring-loaded slider and it is designed for the likes of a GoPro or similar sport camera. It is very simple but it holds very tightly and it is not going to let your camera drop unless you either put in a phone that is too big or you fail to put your phone in properly. The harness attaches to the pole via a mounting post on a ball joint. I really like this design as it gives the most flexibility. The post is standard-sized so you can actually mount a dedicated camera or camcorder on this pole if desired. It also allows for putting on a different harness if you have one that you prefer to the one included. There is a wrist lanyard, attached to the bottom of the handle, which is good for maintaining a grip on your monopod.Overall, this is a good monopod. It works very well, it is designed nicely and it has some nice features that set it apart from many other selfie sticks available. It is priced competitively too.Disclosure: I was provided a sample of this product in exchange for a fair, honest and thorough review. Very Sturdy
Theres a lot of selfie sticks on the market but perhaps this is the most sturdiest one Ive owned till now. Almost all of the ones I reviewed now have bent slightly when fully extended. But this one was the first one that didn't have this problem because of it having a good structure. The mount provided also has two modes. One mode is vertical and one is horizontal. This allows for different angles of photos. The handle is very sturdy and hold together quite nicely. In conclusion I recommend this product because it is robust and effective.*I received this product in return for an honest review.
