the native American inmate students in my classroom really like this book a lot. most of the natives are Navajo, and many of them, even when they speak the language, haven't seen it written. this is a prized book on the prison yard. it was taken once, so i immediately purchased another to replace it.in addition to the picture-dictionary pages, there are written English-to-Navajo and Navajo-to-English sections in the back of the book.

There aren't many references out there pertaining to the navajo language. Having a picture dictionary makes learning the words easier and more enjoyable. Yes it does look outdated due to the fact it was published in the late 80's but it is very thorough and makes memorization easier when you connect the word with the visual.

Wish I had this when my kids were growing up! The grand-kids love it and have used it in many school presentations and projects. They love learning a new language and plan to list Navajo as a language on their college submissions.

Excellent book written by a native speaker. Clear, high-quality printing, and the language is Standard Navajo. Good spelling, and so far I have found only one lone accent mark that I would disagree with. Worth every penny.

I really like this book the layout is clear and is labeled under each subject there are many words to learn. I’m kind of split in my head though because I got this book to continue learning when the online class I took as finished with much to learn still. Going through the book I can tell there are a few that are different from what I was taught so part of me doubts if I should learn to not have the correct translation. I will wait for the other book I bought to arrive that will have more details about the vowels and consonants the way it sounds that’s all I can really do. If it doesn’t work out I suppose it’s back to relearning Spanish again

This dictionary is easy for students to use, because of the pictures and because of the categories offered. I need more.

The visual nature of this book is great and I can see it would be particularly useful for those trying to expand their vocabulary in either language. However, there are some basic words that aren't in there such as "friend." It would also be useful if it had a very basic grammar lesson, such as the typical syntax for word order, conjugation of verbs, etc.
