Beautiful thing to have in the kitchen.
This pour over cone is thoughtfully designed, quality construction, and helps you make great tasting, hot, gourmet coffee.I really like the innovative design. It's a true cone - it comes to a point at the base rather than a wedge, so the coffee drains more naturally. The coffee drains through the outside of the cone and runs down the sides to drip through the slots in the bottom. The stainless steel conducts heat from inside the cone to keep the coffee hot as it drips. Genius! Also, you can see the level of the coffee in your cup through the slots, so no more spills through over-zealous pouring. The shiny stainless steel construction looks refined and attractive and is a worthy addition to any kitchen, while the accompanying scoop is elegant and substantial - it really makes me wonder how I used those plastic scoops for all these years.

I would recommend this to anyone
I chose between two options: copying my brother by ordering a cheap, plastic dripper and using paper filters or spending 3x the cost of the cheap plastic dripper and not needing paper filters. I chose the higher quality, stainless steel dripper, which I am reviewing right now.Not only does it come with a handy-dandy (stainless steel?) scooper, but I won't be worrying about (1) scolded plastic getting into my coffee and body, regularly buying new filters, or finding filters that aren't unhealthy with dyes and whatnot. The perceived disadvantage is that this filter, compared to the plastic/paper combo, restrains the flow of water through the coffee at a faster pace and, perhaps, not allowing enough coffee-water time. I don't notice a difference in the taste though.I would recommend this to anyone. The cost between the plastic and this dripper is about $7 --> $20... So, consider the cost of paper filters over the longevity of the item.

Updated: Unit broke after about a dozen uses
UPDATE: Unfortunately, after about a dozen uses, the mesh basket separated from the rim. I'll look into getting the unit replaced and update my review depending on the experience I have with customer service and the new unit.--I don't drink a ton of coffee, but I like a cup or two in the morning. This pour-over coffee maker is perfect for my needs. Just slowly pour hot water (just off boiling) over some fresh, coarsely ground beans and watch the magic happen. The coffee is delicious and mellow, and the clean-up is a breeze. I also appreciate being able to be more environmentally conscious by not buying disposable coffee filters.

Loved It But It Broke Within A Month Of Use....
This is a beautiful, simple and effective way to prepare a delicious cup of coffee. Unfortunately, the top ring, by which you hold it and remove it from the mug, completely separated from the funnel and base after only a month of use. So when it's hot, there is no handle or way to grasp it to remove it from the mug. Aside from that unfortunate craftsmanship, it's a great piece. Another nice design element is that there are cutaways in the metal at the bottom, so after the coffee drips through the filter, you can see it go into the mug and clearly see how full the mug is without removing it entirely.

Love the look!
I really wanted to love this more than I do. I love the sleek look, the ease of brewing this way, and the flavor of the coffee. I'm just not sure that it's worth the amount of water it takes to clean it after each use (plus running the garbage disposal for the grounds that won't shake out) vs. tossing the paper filter/grounds into the compost pail and giving the plastic cone a quick swish. For now, I'll use this one at home, and keep my plastic cone & filters at school, where I don't have time to run to the kitchen and wash every time I make a cup of coffee.

Nicely built but coffee filters too slowly.
Very well built and looks great. After using it for a while I found the drip to be too slow causing coffee grinds to soak too long. If I followed the instructions and not let the coffee pool in the filter, it would take 30 minutes to make one cup. I feel the screen is too fine. I went back to a #2 Melita paper filter system which has always worked perfect.

This is so much better than the K-cups
This is so much better than the K-cups! It fits over any coffee cup and you can use any ground coffee. I like to make my own combinations of coffee so this is ideal.

Makes super tasty coffee!!!
I love this coffee filter. It works great, does not need filter papers, and I even use it with espresso ground coffee if thats what I have on hand and it works perfectly. makes very tasty coffee!! The first one I ordered broke (the top ring separated from the base) and the seller replaced it immediately. I'm very happy with this purchase!
