Parenting a Child with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (Parenting Matters)

Brilliant! This is a clear and easy to read book. I carry this in my work bag all the time and I have recommended it to several foster carers. I refer to this book all the time in conversations with foster carers who are struggling to manage or understand behaviours. It’s small enough to carry in your bag but absolutely full of great information.

Very biased book against natural parents. I found this book quite infuriating, non productive and far from Theraputic. It would be interesting to learn more about the background of the author, just to understand whether his bias came through his education or if it was from his own childhood trauma. I wouldn’t advise natural parents to read this as it’s not empowering or therapeutic. Strangely enough this book was recommended to me by a child multi complexed trauma therapist/social worker. So through reading this I realised that maybe she wasn’t the best person to support my family. Parents need a multi dynamic holistic theraputic framework to heal from trauma and then to help their children heal. Not be scrutinised for trauma which maybe beyond their control for whatever reason. I wouldn’t give this man any support by purchasing another book.

i've only just started reading the book. However, Book is easy reading, explains P.A.C.E and other therapeutic direct work, have great examples on how to dealt with difficult situations and it would be useful for foster carers to read if they have a child in placement who have emotional and/or behavioural difficultie. Its definitely a book to read and keep for reference.

I am a therapist specialising in attachment difficulties I use this book with my parents and would recommend it too anyone who works in this field
