Quality product
Soft, silky, easy to put on, easy to zip. It's like a fabric--it's not plasticky or noisy. We stand the box springs on end, (the end that will be at the bottom of your bed near your feet when you replace the box springs on the bed frame). Place the box springs close to the end of the bed, but leaning backwards away from the bed just a bit, resting against something like a dresser. We use two step ladders, positioning one on either side of the box springs (the short side, that is usually around 11 to 13 in thick). We each stand on a step ladder to get up above the box springs. We then gather the material of the encasement at the open end, in the left hand, placing the open end of the encasement over the top end of the box springs. Keep pulling over and down with your left hand while pulling the encasement up and over the end of the box spring with your right hand, so that gravity lets the encasement slide down over each side of the box springs. When the encasement is fully over the end and coveringthe box springs, gently allow the box springs to fall down partially over the bed frame. Zip the encasement shut and then push the box springs fullyfully into the bed frame.

Precaution, Prevention, Defense or Battlefield.
I left this feedback for all the items I purchased and listed here in prevention of BED BUGS. I live in a apartment building. 10 years ago in the city I live in I never heard any mention of bedbugs. Now I hear it everywhere. I purchased the following just as a precaution. Hospitology Sleep Defense System Waterproof/Dust Mite Proof Pillow Encasement, Standard, Set of 2 Hospitology Sleep Defense System Waterproof/Bed Bug Proof Mattress Encasement,80-Inch by 60-Inch, Queen Hospitology Sleep Defense System Bed Bug Proof Box Spring Encasement, 80-Inch by 60-Inch, Queen BEAP 10013 4-Pack Detector Bed Bug Coaster Trap Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade Pest Pistol Mineral Oil I read online many, many, many different suggesting and opinions. These are most popular ideas, and I agree with them. My bed is brand new and I wanted some protection. Every thing listed I purchased on Amazon is good quality and no complaints. I was very nervous the Hospitality Sleep Defense items would have a plastic feel, but it is not the case. The Hospitality Sleep Defense for the pillows and bed have a nice soft and smooth feel to them. They make my bed and pillows feel smoother and softer. They are a good quality and feel like they will last a long time and not rip. They are very big for even the biggest of mattresses or box springs. First of all the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade box i received is big. I used this for my entire apartment and still have more then half left in the box. Using Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, and Pest Pistol (online comments are you can also use empty plastic ketchup and mustard bottles) I dusted all long the walls under the carpet (use a dollar store paintbrush to keep it nice and neat), and in some places I lifted the carpet up and sprayed a little on the carpet tacs that hold the carpet in place. You do not have to spray it heavy, only a light coating. Then I took the electrical cover panels and sprayed inside the walls, USE CAUTION, TURN OFF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL SUPPLY. You might want to consider wearing a dollar store face mask, the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade will blow around a little, if you get carried away with it. Make sure you spray into all holes and crevasses (even in the bathroom) behind the medicine cabinet if there are gaps, in the trimming along the walls, closets, everywhere!!! Every room, every space!!!!!!!. Online reports and comments are that bed bug like hiding behind the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, behind mirrors or photos hanging on walls, dressers, dressers drawers, light shades. I even sprayed a little on my bed frame. Keep in mind, if the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade gets wet, it is useless and you will have to reapply it. Also note, if you shampoo your rugs a couple times a year, like me, you may have to reapply Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade after your rugs dry. Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade kills all kinds of bugs, cutting into their hard shell bodies and sticks into their joints. This definitely gives me peace of mind when I sleep or laying in my bed during the day. Bed bugs usually feed in the middle of the night, but if they get hungry they will come out all times of the day. Isolate your bed from the walls and the floors. Only have the legs of your bed touching the floor. Keep blankets from touching the walls and floor. Nothing should be touching your walls or floor. ISOLATION! Computer power cords and cell phone cords should not be on your bed when you sleep. Although there are online reports of bedbugs climbing up to the ceiling and falling down/jumping onto beds, I am not that paranoid. Because it is a death sentence for them, they cannot escape or live in the mattress or lay eggs in the mattress because of the Hospitality Sleep Defense. Always make sure you wash and dry your blankets and sheets every week. Dry for at least 20-30 minutes on hot. BEAP 10013 4-Pack Detector Bed Bug Coaster Trap are very strong and very big. I was very surprised! I was nervous, I have a QUEEN size bed with wheels under each leg. But they fit with room to spare. Use the Mineral Oil in the outer trench of the Coasters. Bed Bugs cannot swim in it, they sink to the bottom and drowns them. But dummy me, my queen bed frame has 5 legs, one leg to support the middle of the bed. I used them on my sofa also. Good luck if you find yourself with bedbugs or using these as a prevention and defense. If you do not have the time or energy, you can hire an exterminator which will cost thousands and thousands of dollars. I am the type of person I do not like to use pesticides in my apartment unless I have to. I never use those insect fumigators, they spray pesticides everywhere and you will eventually absorb them into your skin, from the floors and furniture. If you already have bed bugs, I suggest vacuuming every inch of your bed, on your bed, box, and frame head board. Then do your furniture, sofa and recliners. Sofas, couches and recliners are much harder to eradicate bedbugs from, you might want to think about trashing it. Please, before you trash your furniture, damage your furniture so no one else takes it and gets a bedbug nightmare. When you are finished vacuuming, remove the bag, put in a plastic trash bag and TAPE IT SHUT and put outside away from your house in a trash can. They start spraying the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade everywhere. Bed Bugs are smart creatures, they are very good at hiding until they are hungry. And they will search you out like a blood hound dog. Good luck!

Well-Made, Easy to Put On & Works Immediately!
I bought this mattress box spring cover to help me combat a carpet beetle problem that I was having in my bedroom. I live in Hawaii where houses are very open, which means it's easy for bugs to come in and set up shop. Apparently some carpet beetles set up shop under my bed, in some of the stuff I was storing under there, and their larvae have little hairs that are barbed. If they touch your skin then the barbs leave welts, and they started getting me while I was sleeping! After tons of research and time with a flashlight, I figured out that it was these guys and not bed bugs (which would have been my worst nightmare) so I bought the mattress cover, box spring cover, and four pillow covers from Hospitology to put over my bed after a massive cleaning and stuff-purging spree one weekend. These are GREAT products! They were easy to put on (I did all of this completely by myself), I added some boric acid and diatomaceous earth (bug killing dust) inside the mattress and box spring covers before putting them on, and after this, and the cleaning spree, I didn't receive a single bit again. I was nervous for a few days when I went to bed, but nothing since and it's been about 3 weeks now! The covers are very well-made, with a strong, smooth, soft material. There is a little air trapped inside of the cover, but I'm sure if you put the cover on with more than one person you could push all that air out before sealing. It's a little annoying, but I think mostly because I did it by myself. All-in-all a GREAT product! I would definitely buy these again and I would definitely recommend them to others. Well worth every penny!

Self Defense System makes a box spring encasement that fits tight and snug that does not sag towards the ground
I just put this box spring encasement on my 9 inch wood foundation I have as a box spring for my mattress.I love it.It fits my box spring like a glove with no sagging material this box spring encasement does not sag down towards the ground like another brand I have had.I know a good box spring encasement should fit tightly and snug so you do not give bedbugs a place to nest and also be strong so it does not get holes where bedbugs can go thru and nest inside.I had a plastic box spring encasement that was nothing more than a plastic bag that fit over my box spring that had a adhesive edge along side that sealed the box spring. It was sagging down a lot almost to the ground so to make it so it would not sag I put 8 rows of duct tape horizontally across the box spring in spaced rolls from top to bottom of the box spring. With so many rows of duct tape going across the box spring there is a lot of openings where bedbugs can nest on the side of the box spring and the bottom of the box spring. There are so many cracks and crevices in the tape and also some of the tape loses its adhesive stick and comes unglued so there are 2 inches to four inches of tape that is not sticking to the plastic bag there are all sorts of creases and the plastic and tape where bedbugs can nest.No wonder I was itching always when I went to sleep in my mattress the bedbugs would come from the creases and tape rows where they where nesting climb up my mattress and bite me while I was laying in bed.I do not think plastic box spring encasement are any good mine had a bunch of holes in it from moving around my bed or bumping in to it with something sharp enough to put a hole in it.After a while the plastic becomes brittle and becomes easier to put a hole in it and if you duct tape it up you give more cracks and crevices for bedbugs to nest.I repaired the many holes I got in it from over 2 years of use with duct tape.A snug or tight fitting box spring encasement that is strong is the best box spring encasement to have.I also put Cimexa in between the box spring in mattress and bed frame but it did not cover the cracks and crevices in the tape rolls or plastic on the sides of the box spring or the bottom of the box spring. For my mattress I use Mattress Safe mattress bed bug encasement. It is so strong and comfortable. All factory mattress plastic bags are not hole free especially when you buy a more expensive thicker mattress like my 12 inch thick sealy belfair mattress has a mattress bag with about 25 holes total.I looked for them with a small flashlight and found them on all the different sides or faces of the mattress and taped them up with gorilla clear duct tape. The holes looked like they where made by a paper hole puncher the ones that punch 3 holes on the edge of the paper so you can put the paper in a binder but 3 times bigger and only 2/3 rds punched out some on top and some on bottom but none in the middle. So if you leave your factory plastic bags on check for holes and especially the thicker ones that are more fancy.Check for holes on factory plastic bags on both mattress and box spring and seal them with gorilla clear duct tape then put your bed bug encasement on.Also just because you buy a expensive high quality mattress bed bug encasement does not mean it is invincible. They can get holes in them if you lay on them with a key chain with your keys on the outside of your pants or lay something with a sharp edge or sharp object on it or a sharp end of a wire.So you must always protect the top of it by putting a blanket or sheet or comforter so it will not get a hole in it.

Excellent product, nice soft material
This box spring encasement is excellent! My box spring is older and was getting pretty worn out. This product was very easy to put on and the material is so soft and clean looking. I would recommend this product 100%! My ugly box spring looks brand new. I might buy one for my mattress too!
