An art world standard - professional drawing paper
I have been using this paper for drawing since college. I studied Painting and Printmaking at a great art school and this is what is recommended by a lot of the art professors for drawing and even for exploring things like screen printed art. And it’s good for portraits.I’ve been using this for decades. I haven’t sold anything serious on any other brand of paper in years. Buyers like to hear that it’s thick and wont wrinkle or fold with normal handling and it’s it’s acid free archival quality so it will last a long time. You can erase quite a bit and it holds up well. It’s not a loose, delicate paper. It’s smooth, fairly tough and resilient, unlike papers that will start to deteriorate and even tear a hole through if you erase in one spot four or five times. That never happened with this. It’s smooth, thick and compact. It still has enough “tooth” to it that it absorbs pencil pretty well. When I sit down with a blank sheet, I feel like I’m starting fresh with professional quality.I attached two images of drawings done on this so you can have a look at the amount of detail you can get.I use this one for pencil and their mixed media toned papers for a mix of watercolor, charcoal, pastel and pencil. Those toned papers save some time by giving you the mid tones that you will probably build up anyway, they make nice atmosphere, but this white paper gives you that crisp brightness if you need it.I wasn’t sure which paper to use for a project I wanted to do, so I wrote to the company and explained it to them asking if I might try some samples. They were friendly and sent me some free samples of papers they thought might be a good fit. If you’re unsure, look them up on their website and shoot them an email to see if they might help you figure something out. Cheers!

Not too happy with it.
This is the worst drawing paper I have ever used. Not just the brand but the type of paper “vellum”. This was recommended by most instructor but one. Now that I know the difference, I prefer the smooth finish. The smooth finish is a lot easier to handle when it comes to shading. Yes, the effect is lighter. In vellum, your drawing is darker but it doesn’t give you an even shading. It’s dirtier in my opinion. Maybe in other media it will work well but not in graphite ( or charcoal) pencil. I would not recommend this type of paper.

Great quality
I love this paper, it layers very well. I do realistic portraits and realistic flowers. I use prisma colored pencils.

Great!
I love these pads.I use markers a lot and the vellum surface is both very quick and not very absorbent. If you've ever used a Sharpie on newsprint you know that the paper is very thirsty and it's impossible to put down a line without any feathery bleeding.Speaking of which, it's almost impossible to soak through to the other side (with markers). it erases great with a standard eraser and if you really blow it, you can clean up an edge with an X-acto knife or razor blade if you need to.It's got a nice white surface and it's very easy to prepare photo-ready art from it if that a concern of yours. It takes pencil well too, but the general lack of tooth means that you'll have to be patient in laying down graphite. And probably plan on using some softer pencils to really push the contrast.Still, I chiefly use it for ink and in that regard it's tops.
