Q: what is the difference in fiberglass and polyester screen?

Polyester can be affected by heat: it loses its dimensional stability and stretches under high temperatures, while fiberglass is unaffected because of its much higher melting point at 2,075 degrees Farenheit.

Q: can I cut this down to fit a dog door?

Not all dogs will just walk into a screen with their face thinking its going to split open like magic, even if they watch you do it first. My dog would not go through it at first. I had to use a treat super close to the screen so he would come up and smell it, and then eventually he figured out he could get the treat if he pushed the screen open a little bit. He was walking through it like normal later that day. So yes don't cut the screen because that will defeat its whole purpose.

you don’t want to cut it - you’ll just need to modify it. the screen is bordered with velcro. it goes all the way around it and works great! what i did was at each of the corners i would take a little slack and pinch it in. then i’d secure it to the frame of the door with one of the provided industrial strength thumbtacks. do this on each corner and secure it with a thumbtack. my frame is smaller, as well, and this worked out for me. hope it works for you?

Don't know the actual size but it's like the screen on your windows. No flies get in.
