will it work on small pills

I have found that small pills can be cut with this device depending upon the hardness and shape of the pill. "Caplets" are fairly easy to cut while small round pills cut less evenly. My suggestions are to try it and make sure the pill splitter is on a firm surface. Good luck!

Lately have these been opaque or solid in apperance?

Mine was an opaque orange. Would have preferred the solid blue.

will it cut soft pills like ic clonazepam odt?

I can't say about an individual pill but I use it for thicker, harder supplements and a prescription pill which is smaller and softer. It does a pretty good job on both BUT I found that after making sure of careful positioning of the pill, you have to give a hard, quick whack on the lid. This gives a better result than if you push slowly which might cause some crumbling. This splitter is better than a few others I bought recently. I would practice on vitamins or such until you get the hang of it. That's what I did.
