The Ultimate Dog Treat Cookbook: Homemade Goodies for Man's Best Friend

I love the variation in recipes. My only issue with the recipes is that many contain garlic which can be toxic to dogs. I’ll leave it out of all recipes, but need to check other ingredients that I’m not sure about.

This is a cute book and most of the recipes seem worth trying. There are several recipes in this book that include baking powder. Baking powder constrains tartaric acid, which is toxic to dogs. It can cause kidney damage.

Has Garlic and kibble as ingredients. I can’t find any where on line that says garlic is okay for dogs.

This is a cute book with a nice variety of treats to make for your dog. The extra nice part is the fact that it fast tracks you to getting the treats made. It doesn't really take you down to making them completely from scratch in all cases, but rather tells you what to get at the store to make treats out of. Instead of telling you start with wheat flour and eggs and water and mix, blah, blah, blah. It tells you "2 cups of Cheerios or Kashi cereal" or "2 cups of dry dog kibble, crushed" and a lot start with varities of Bisquick or Jiffy muffin mixes. This is a nice time saver for all of us who want to make treats for our pets but don't have all day to roll out dough and do it all truly from scratch. Don't worry, there's still enough that you'll need to add that you won't feel like you're just buying dog biscuits at the store.

I just love the book and purchased a treat maker also to go with it. you can just roll out and cut with a cookie cutter also.

Like the recipes, they do not call for exotic ingredients. The material after mixed is amiable to cooking in different ways and shapes. Dogs love them.

He has been such a delight and joy to me that I wanted to something special for him to show my love and appreciation. The recipes in this book rely heavily on non-generic ingredients that can only be bought in the USA, which makes selling it internationally a bit of a waste. Coupled with the exclusive use of American units of measurements (cups instead of ounces or grams) means that using the book is difficult.

If you are looking for recipes to cook healthy, natural treats for your dog... steer away from this book. Most recipes are based on store bought muffin mixes, pizza dough, cereal (Cheerios) or dry dog kibble that you pulverize. Most recipes contain store bought bouillon powder. Also, while it is a 118 page book as advertised, chapter one is printed... twice!Returning this book straight away!
