Golden Age Project FC4 Small-diaphragm Condenser Microphone

been testing this for 8 hrs now against other normal mics...my guess is that teh FET inside is somehow givingyou some very unique noise....not constant... no.if you say nothing...no sound...the mic is SUPER QUIETeven at full gain.... this is wierd, as if not not connected...butthe minute u say anything....a constant white noise envelopes, over the signal...and the minute that you keep quiet...thenoise cancelling takes over, and sudden zero noise zero all...this is wierd...cannot be used as solo mic ...bec of this defect.if you use iwth other mics, the other micsand music will overshadow this noise on , noise off thingie...noise cancelling inside a mic ?i got a defective mic or ...this is the crazy way to build this mic ?ignoring the noise...th sound is good...more highs than lowss...so it can be used accordingly...good lucknot too bad for usd 60, still butnot worth it...bec of noise probs...if it costs more.go try it yourself...record and listen thru good headphones..on spkrs u wont notice much... since most dont usegood spkrs anyway...or quiet rooms...i might have a defective unit...i dont know.thanksk

I bought a matched pair of these (wish i'd got the multi capsule version now) my background = professional musician for 20 years odd and then some , home recorder/producer/songwriter ongoing etc. These mic's really do offer some exceptional value for money, and i'm fairly gutted to say that i think i've probably got nicer sounds from out of these pretty cheap pencil mic's than from my much posher & more expensive LDC , both on vocals and with live acoustic instruments - a real revelation and without doubt a proper bargain IMO.
