This one of a kind piece features bark trim and dramatic sliver gray spalting distinctive to Pine Bark Beetle killed trees. The bowl is dry food safe. The serving set includes a clear 12 oz Corning glass liner for dip, sauce, dressing, salsa, etc. Dimensions are 14.625" diameter, 3.25" height, inside bowl depth 1.5" larger than other similar pieces in our inventory. The server is pictured empty, with crudites & dip and also with salsa & 13 oz bag of chips. Imagine this server gracing the table at your next event filled with pita chips & hummus, strawberries & chocolate sauce or mixed berries & cream; or muffins, rolls, fruit bread or bagels with cream cheese or whipped butter--to name a few of the many possibilities for this versatile piece. This item was hand turned in our workshop from a Lodge Pole Pine tree that died from the infestation of the Pine Bark Beetle in Grand County, CO. We harvest logs from standing dead trees. Structural cracks in the log are repaired with epoxy that coordinates with the wood grain and/or the dramatic blue-gray spalting distinctive to beetle killed trees (see photos). This bowl is finished with multiple coats of clear polyurethane in a satin sheen completed with bees wax, hand buffed to a protective gloss for easy maintenance.
