Useful PRODUCT
Okay, it won't help the crying, but this little gizmo does make slicing onions and other vegetables oh so easy. Not, I must say, that slicing onions is a two-man (or woman) job in the first place, but getting perfectly thin slices, even as you get near the stem and there is nothing to grasp, can be challenging. My kitchen prep frequently ends up with determining whether the bleeding is arterial or capillarial, so I look for ways to make things less painful. One simply slices an onion in half and plops it flat side down on the cutting board. Jab in the prongs and away you go. The handle gives a good grip, the prongs grasp the onion securely. Slide the knife through the openings and Hey Presto, perfect slices, bloodlessly. No need to revive squeamish guests. In an experimental mood, I used it to slice cucumbers, potatoes and tomatoes and the results were excellent (except for the tomatoes, which should have been a tad less ripe). The potatoes were the right size for an au gratin or similar dish, the other veggies perfect for salads. A mandoline produces slices that are too thin, not to mention the inevitable loss of fingertips. As you travel down life's highway, it's nice to find things that are uncomplicated and do what they are supposed to do. I give this a five.

Because after you do, you're digging through your Pinterest boards trying to find a DIY remedy to remove the onion odor from your hands... without any of the smell getting on your phone or tablet. I've tried lemon juice, vinegar, and vanilla extract, but none of them work. If I have them on hand, I would even go so far as to use surgical gloves to slice if I was attending a party later and didn't want my hands to offend anyone else like they offend me. This is a neat little gadget and it works for other vegetables too, if you want even slices for a pretty salad. It's perfect for slicing squash to prevent getting whatever that squash gunk is that you get on your hands... it looks like your skin is dried out, but it's really just a film that coats your hands when handling squash (especially zucchini). I'm not a fan of using my dish scrubbie on my hands and it doesn't even help much unless you scrub hard. This holder is just heavy enough to let you know it's quality-made and the prongs are super sharp. It's tall enough to completely spear most vegetables and easy to hold on to and use. I plan to buy these as stocking stuffers for my daughter and nieces because no one wants stinky hands.

Best Helper at kitchen
I cook a lot, and for my family and friends as well. I love having this handy tool in my kitchen cabinets because it saves me time, and my hands from smelling like onions for hours after cooking. I also find it helps me avoid my eyes from watering because the onion juices don’t get on my hand and don’t linger around. The easy “guides” make sure that in your cooking your pieces of onions will be the same, and I won’t end up with a huge chunk of onion in a recipie I’ve worked hard on. It’s also helped me with safety. I’m teaching my younger niece how to cook and one of my main concerns is her hurting herself. Well thanks to this awesome tool I don’t have to be so worried about her keeping her fingers in when she’s cutting an onion. She liked it so much I’ll probably buy her one for her next birthday. I find the quality great and being able to throw it in my dishwasher when I’m done cooking is so easy, most tools like this in my kitchen require hand washing which discourages me from using it in the first place.
