Rick Steves Portugal

I tried a few different guides on my recent trip to Portugal, Croatia and Czechia. Rick Steves's guides were hands down the best. I only had 3 days in Lisbon, and this guide really helped me make the most of it. One of the highlights of my two week trip was the "Food and Culture" tour in Lisbon (Taste of Lisbon) I read about in the guide. My guide Filipa told us that Rick actually DID come on her tour, and asked her lots of great questions - I had just assumed he had a team of people working for him! I especially appreciate his walking guides for different areas and neighborhoods. I would take pics of the section to have in my phone for the next day (so I didn't have to carry around a book) and it was so helpful in making the most of my trip since I had limited time in each locale. I left the guide in the great hostel I stayed in (Rodamon Lisboa - highly recommend!) and hopefully other travelers will benefit too!

Rick focuses on specific small towns but fails to give enough info on larger towns, especially in the Algarve

Wow, what a great guide! Not only does it include detailed information that one might expect such as shopping, restaurants, hotels and sites, it also offers information on things that I didn't think I needed (but do) such as a packing list, non-fiction and fiction book suggestions, and info. about what to be aware of such as slippery sidewalks in Lisbon. Highly recommended.

Doing an independent tour of Lisbon after an O.A.T. trip to Southern France, Northern Spain, and Portugal. Trip terminates in Porto, and we are taking a train from Porto to Lisbon. The Lisbon section is excellent, and supplemented with on-line recommendations, we hope to find the best dining for 4 days. Can update review after return from our trip.

We just got back from Portugal and we used this everyday. The hotel recommendations were good and the maps are super helpful. The Tile Museum in Lisbon is really amazing. Also don't miss going to Porto.

Love Rick Steves’ guides. Used them on many vacations. Only thing missing in this one for me is the Azores, but I’m rating it 5 stars because they’re so useful!

This book was so helpful. I also had another guidebook but this was the one we used all the time. It’s organized by the top sights to see- which are mapped out in an easy to follow route- for each location. Dining suggestions and tours were on point. Very helpful guidebook!!

Rick Steves is always a winner, however this book is in BLACK and WHITE. I would have passed if I'd know this. Disappointing. I'll order something in color.

Just did a 2 week vacation to portugal. Rick Steves tips were very accurate and helpful and made it easy to plan our trip.

The book appears to be current. I am planning a trip and this item is chock full of information about Portugal.
