Excellent book which descibes in usual Osprey format and detail the role of the Infantry in the Austrian Army during the 1740-80 period. The book complements other issues covering Cavalry and Auxiliary Services and completes the coverage of the Austrian Army from 1740 to 1780.

This is the second booklet in a series dealing with the Austrian Army from the period 1740-80. It presents highly detailed illustrations (some in colour, others in black and white) depicting the uniforms and weapons used by soldiers. This second volume deals with the infantry.I was after a book that provided information on the uniforms worn by soldiers in the Austrian army at this time. As such, I found this publication to be very helpful. It allows you to see - very clearly - the particulars of the clothing.Yet I was somewhat disappointed by the short length of the book (under 50 pages). In order to fully understand the design of the various uniforms, it's necessary to purchase several other volumes (each just 50 pages long). I think that an abridged edition - combining all the books - would be more helpful. Also, buying 3 or 4 separate books (each at £5 to £10) is quite costing, considering how thin they are. Nonetheless, this is a useful resource.

One of a series but they are quite repetitive and contain similar illustrations.
