Venom By Donny Cates Vol. 6: King In Black

King in Black
I loved this volume. Eddie's new powers are very interesting. I read this after the first volume by Al Ewing, now at least I understand what is going on now. I will miss Donny Cates, he truly understood Eddie Brock and Venom.

Kid approved
I’m clueless why my son likes these books, but he does so I buy them. A happy kid makes for a happy mom.

All things end.
Well after a phenomenal three user run Donnie Cares and Ryan Stegman have concluded their Venom run. This leaves us with a whole new exciting chapter to follow in the lives of the Brick family and the extened venomverse.

Good ending
Good ending excited to see where this story goes now that cates is done. Venom with chains instead of webs where can I sign up? The era of Dylan Brock has begun!

Missing the climax! Buy it w/ King in Black or the omnibus
The story's a lot of fun, but the second to last issue ends on a cliffhanger. This trade just jumps to the conclusion, and you don't see how the final confrontation occurred. It's worth getting, but make sure you have the King in Black trade as well so you don't miss anything. I would've given it 4 stars, but the missing piece of the arc was really disappointing.

Missing Pages
Skips the whole end fight. Otherwise, good comic.

Good conclusion
Story parallels King in Black and doesn't feel like a retread. Story was interesting and covers addition elements not in King in Black. Artwork was mostly great but for one issue had some dips in quality to mediocre.

Exactly why I don't read comics
I am now 30 and I like the marvel universe, even though I do not read comics at all. And I always thought that was a shame because I know I am missing so much. But I was always scared to enter this universe as I knew that story telling is not linear, and tons of series cross each other in the middle. I was scared to have to read another 20 books to understand the one I would buy.But curiosity got me, and really liking the Spiderman universe, and Venom, I decided to try and read this series. And it went relatively well all along. There are annotations of references from other comics along the road, but nothing that would be destabilizing. And finaly, i arrive to the last volume, and everything is skipped. The begining of the fight, the fight itself, what happened after the fight. Because yeah, you have to read the Avengers to have that. Why am I supposed to make research, spoil myself, and buy 50 volumes to get that? I just wanted to enjoy a good venom story... It left me bitterly disapointed, and I will not buy anything else.
