Security Burglar Alarm Cable 22/4 Stranded CL2 1000ft

BEWARE!! This wire is CCA (copper clad aluminum) stranded wire (or at least the box I received was CCA. If your not familiar with CCA wire, its basically aluminum wire coated with copper. This is horrible, especially with smaller wires. The strands are easier to strech, and they can break off much easier than pure copper wires. If you want to solder with CCA, forget it. It is very difficult at best to get the wire to hold solder. In my security system, I will only use stranded pure copper wire. If I had to sacrifice, I would buy solid copper wire over CCA any day.

I like stranded cable better than solid because it is harder to break (if it is stepped on etc.). The cable will not push very well (such as down inside a wall but pulls well. Make sure to use the correct good quality stripper (a bit hard to strip with a knife). All in all seem to be good cable. I like the foot number on the cable so I know how much I have used and how much to charge to the job.

I ordered this Fluid Communications wire because it was supposed to be stranded 22 AWG and all copper. I was instead sent Logico 22 AWG stranded copper clad aluminum wire, which is a much cheaper product. The copper is a very thin layer and is not what I had paid for. The aluminum conductors do not conduct as well and they are not as flexible as all copper wire.
