Scott Gerber = the Help you're looking for!
As the author of ], I know a thing or two about financial info-products such as what makes them good, bad, worth buying and reading or just skipping past. This one is well worth the read.Gerber's basic idea is that full-time employment with benefits and job security (the conventional job) is becoming an illusion for Gen Y. Which we obviously agree with here at Unfair Edge.He proposes an alternative to the job: start a business. He's not saying anything new, but he is saying it much better than it has ever been said before. What's different about his perspective compared to other start-up books is that he's geared towards a lean, solopreneur start-up. This contrasts the loan backed model that most people think of when they think of a startup. When he's discussing this solopreneur aspect of his book he shines. His two most important ideas are his ideas about money and his ideas about the business plan. First, he tries to get us to confront our spending habits. Since the solopreneur is trying to turn a buck on his own, every dollar counts. Especially since banks aren't going to lend money to an unproven youngster, all he has is his own resources. Second, the way he formulates a business plan. His conception is oriented towards action, not complex models or speculation. His one-page business plan is something every entrepreneur should have in his bag of tricks. The tone of the book does come off a bit strong and it's not for everyone. But if you want someone to shoot straight with, Gerber will do it. The list of all the internet resources are helpful if you have a web or tech business or just starting out, many of them are resources we recommend here at Unfair Edge too.Four stars for Never Get a Real Job.Less Jargony: YesSpecific and Detailed: YesMotivational: YesEasy to Read: YesWill you learn something new: Yes

For an entrepreneur
This book provides great insight on how the author started his business, failed, and then learning from his mistakes suceeded. He also has great insights on how the world has changed and depending on a employer to provide a paycheque for the rest of your life is a mistake you will regret. I am all for creating your own business. This author provides great insights, knowledge, and strategies when creating your business, however of course he doesn't tell you how to really do it. If you do plan on starting a business I do suggest you own this book as reference.

Finally a Non-Fluff, Straight Forward Book for Everyone
It gets so old seeing books on the shelves that say the same old thing about the same old topics. Too many play it safe when they talk about topic and don't get down to the real nitty gritty things that should be addressed. So many business and entrepreneur books are just there to add another notch on their belt for their own personal achievement. Scott is the far from anything that has to do with fluff. He's real. He's been there in the shoes of young entrepreneurs everywhere and even having to deal with his parents asking him when he will get a "real" job. Sure entrepreneurship is not for everyone and most will argue that but where would we be without the entrepreneurs of today? Most employees would not be employed if it were not for those that took the chance to be their own boss and create the jobs. Scott touches on so many things that everyone can relate to, even entrepreneurs who have been doing this for years. Whether you watch his videos, read his articles or read his book you can see the passion Scott brings to the table. This book is raw, edgy and something that has been needed for a long time. Being an entrepreneur is about pushing yourself and going against the odds and Scott's book does just that.Great book for any entrepreneur or person ready to dump their boss. Way to go Scott!

One of the best books on creating your own job
This is probably the best book on starting your business that I have had the pleasure to read. Scott Gerber offers the insights of someone who's made many mistakes and learnt from them. The author avoids the usual clichés such as "all you need to succeed is passion and hard work" and dispels myths that you find in many books and articles on the topic, such as going to obtain funds from your banker when you're just starting a new venture. The book highlights the importance of positioning your products and above all, that of ensuring a steady cash flow from day one through successful sales practice. It also offers a fair amount of practical advice on a variety of relevant topics, be it finding a business partner, hiring staff or successfully converting your prospects into clients. Many references are given to online solutions that can help today's entrepreneur rapidly gain momentum in the marketplace and save a great deal of cash at the same time. The only disturbing aspect of the book, but that's not the author's fault, is that after reading it, you may be convinced that starting a business when you're over 40, with the cost of a family and all the other debts people often carry at that age (mortgages, loans, ...), is close to impossible, unless your family has a personal fortune to carry you through the inevitable mistakes you'll make during your journey into the business world...A must read for the Y-generation.
