Made installing deck rails a breeze
I let me wife talk me into building a 400 square foot deck instead of hiring someone else to do it. One of the things I wasn't looking forward to was installing the rails after I had installed the deck boards. I built my deck out of Brazilian Tigerwood and this stuff is so dense that I had to pre-drill every hole before I could install the screws. Not to mention this stuff was crazy expensive and hard to cut, I didn't want to cut any more wood than I needed to. These anchors allowed me the flexibility to put the railing just where I wanted to without having to use standard posts with a 2 x 4 cut through my deck boards. I put a 4 x 4 block of wood underneath where I mounted these and drilled the screws threw them and they are just as sturdy today as they were several years ago when I installed them. Definitely saved me a lot of time. I highly recommend these.

Great Product
I did a home remodel and used these to install a new railing system with a cable wire system and I get compliments every time someone new sees them in person! They are def above code and probably stronger then what I had replaced with their anchor lag screws!

Good Flat Mounting Solution
I'm half way through my project (I'v e installed 4 of these, and I have three to go). I do agree that it takes some work getting these things installed into the 4X4. They seem very sturdy though once you get the hang of installing them. I recommend getting a forstner bit instead of the hole saw bit. The hole saw bit leaves a plug int eh 4x4 that you have to either cut or chip out or come back with a spade bit. Play around with a few pieces of scrap wood before you start drilling in your finished product. Also, note that you need to pound the heck out of these things to get them in the bottom of the 4x4. I had the most success with a dead blow hammer and a mini 3 lb sledge hammer. I did not "beat up" the other end of the 4x4 like some of the reviewers shared, but I did put down a scrap piece of plywood to protect the end.

Above ground deck post solution
Directions dont match up with what I had to do to get it to work Says to use hole saw into bottom of 4 x 4 post This only gets you 2 inches deep-Instructions say product should be driven into post over 3 inches This doesnt add up-Tried hammering item into post and edge not sharp as they want you to believe so didnt go in flush with post-I solved problem by using a wood boring bit AFTER i used hole saw-this cleaned out enough of the post so the Titan could be tapped into bottom of 4 x 4 easily

They work but a bit harder then the videos show
This summer, a CPA and a Drafting Teacher took on the challenge of redoing a deck. The supports under our deck were okay, but not sturdy enough to support mounting the railings to the sides again. Our challenge was to find a way to mount our railings to our new wonderful decking floor. Enter this product! We watched the video and felt like this would be a good way to solve our problem. And it was. However, atleast for us, the process of getting the anchors into the posts was more challenging then the video showed. We struggled with keeping our pilot holes straight (our fault). It was awkward pounding the anchors in as well. Pounding on concrete resulted in smashing the tops of our post, pounding on dirt/grass was too forgiving. In the end we go all 20 of our posts done, but it was a several day several hour project. The post are proving thus far to be sturdy and a HUGE improvement over what we had. I would totally use these again, and would recommend them. Just prepare to possibly spend more then 10 minutes/post.
