Q: When the compressor is running, how many db does it produce? (ie. How loud is it?)

It’s not very load. But you need to put a rubber mount between the base of compressor and the mounting surface. It cuts noise even more.

Q: Can you run air tools with this setup?

You may get a few seconds of operation, then allow it to refill. That would Be a strain, for the pump. It could be used to fill a tire, tho.

Q: I have a 1.5gal tank from an old on board air system. Can I use it in tandem with this unit for a total of 3 gallons?

Yes. It has extra ports to run a cross-over line to your tank. Just make sure you have a cross-over line sufficient enough to hold the pressure.

Q: can this compressor be mounted on its side?

Yes it can, I built a strut bracket and mounted mine in the same configuration. It’s been 6-7 months like this and works great.
