Well-made product
2019-03-04 Update:I am upgrading my original four-star rating to five stars. I have changed my mind about one of the negatives I mentioned in my original review (below): The angle of the handle, which I questioned the need for, turns out to make the brush much better at brushing behind front teeth than a straighter handle, as I confirmed when I had to return to my older brush for a couple of days.Additionally, I used the brush for four months before a second bristle came out. When I opened my second Fuchs Record V toothbrush, there were three or four bristle that stuck out at weird angles. I simple pulled these out with a pair of tweezers. No bristles have come out since as a result. The bristles on the second brush are firmer than those of the first brush, but after I one day wet the brush for use, then had to walk away for a few minutes, I realized the bristles had softened in the interval. I now put two or three centimetres of water in the bottom of a bathroom cup and place the brush head in it for a few minutes while I do other things before brushing. Doing so softens the bristles remarkably.I would still like the packaging and the handle to contain less plastic. I would assume that a bamboo handle could be shaped under steam pressure to recreate the angle of the plastic handle, but I have no doubt that would increase the cost of the product. Some of that cost might possibly be recouped by Fuchs by using renewable/recyclable/compostable/biodegradable materials like bamboo-fibre pasteboard to make the packaging instead of using the heavier plastic they use now, thus reducing shipping weight and cost.Still, if the scoring system could be more fully broken down, I probably would have rated these brushes originally with 4.2 to 4.4 stars. Now I would rate them at about 4.6-4.8 stars. So a rounding we will go!***************Original Review:I tried these out because I brush my teeth too hard and have been slowly damaging my gums, so I needed something softer. The pros:These are well-made brushes, no doubt about that. The bristles are soft yet packed together densely enough that they don't fan out like the bristles of a paintbrush do. I have had only one bristle come out of the brush I have currently been using for about 10 weeks. My wife's brush has lost two, and those were loose when I removed the brush from the package, so I simply pulled them out with tweezers then. She hasn't mentioned any since. The chiseled points on the cleaning surface (see the product photos if you don't know what I mean) do a nice job getting out the food debris that lodges between a couple of my molars and within a couple of my deeper ones. The company's humane gathering of the bristles is a decidedly nice bonus. The cons:I also have been, in general, trying to find natural alternatives to plastics to reduce my contribution of plastics to the environment. Unfortunately, I could not find what seemed to be well-made boars' bristle toothbrushes with handles made of natural materials like bamboo. (Which seems odd, since we have used a very well made boars' bristle bath brush with a bamboo handle for quite a few years now, so I know they're out there somewhere.) At least the plastic handles of theses Fuchs toothbrushes can be recycled, but that only slows down the plastic's eventual end in a landfill, the ocean, or in something or someone's gut.The handle is angled steeply. I'm not convinced that that is necessary since it then is angled back to true, reducing the offset to nearly zero. I guess it makes it harder to jab myself in the back of my throat or something if my hand slips with the brush. My wife likes the steeper angle of the brush more than I do, however. I do wish the section after the second bend, the one closer to the brush head, were a centimetre or so longer, but perhaps my mouth is a bit deeper than average. The brush reaches my back teeth, but with little room to spare. I also would like the handle to be two or three centimetres longer so I could hold it a bit more securely, and the brush head itself to be perhaps five or ten millimetres shorter. I'm accustomed to a more compact brush head. (And, yes, I realize all this would mean more plastic used.)My only other negative comment is about the plastic case the brush comes in. It seems unnecessarily wasteful for each brush to come packaged in its own travel case (at least I assume that was the company's thinking since each case has tiny holes to allow air circulation so a wet brush stored in it doesn't grow mouldy). While it it might be ideal to replace toothbrushes every three months or so, travel cases don't generally have to be. That's just more plastic in the waste stream.Overall, though, I would and do recommend this toothbrush.

Get This
Hard plastic case is nice for travel. I have used the toothbrush for about three months with no problems. I would say the bristles do not last quite as long as nylon. However, it's probably a good idea to change brushes every couple months. Medium was a little stiffer than other medium bristle toothbrushes, but it does soften after a few brushes. I like to run it under hot water to soften them.I have used both the soft and medium and have not had trouble with loose bristles. My teeth feel cleaner after using this brush. The natural bristles seem to "polish" the teeth. Handle is shaped fine and good quality. Head size seems average.

Work well. I had to switch to these because regular toothbrushes were giving me severe stomach pain, etc. Possibly from latex or something. But these work well, they are a bit stiff at first, and every once in a while a couple bristles will break off. Not that big a deal though.

Love these toothbrushes
I like these so much I stopped using my electrical toothbrush. The feel of the natural bristles is much better than any other brush. I literally haven’t used anything else since I received them. Good quality and the offset head works well for getting the inside of your teeth. Highly recommend. I didn’t care about having a recyclable handle.

Not well crafted
I was looking for a softer toothbrush and thought one with natural bristles might suit. Unfortunately, I found that the bristles were sharp and scratchy to compensate for their softness; and in fact so soft they didn't do a good job cleaning my teeth. To make things worse, the bristles would often fall out of the brush with use. I recall gagging on one that got caught in the back of my throat when rinsing.

These toothbrushes were soft and I love that they're natural
These toothbrushes were soft and I love that they're natural. But they just did not clean our teeth well. I am using the rest of them for cleaning around the house and little jobs.

BEST...TOOTHBRUSH...EVER!!!
BEST TOOTHBRUSH EVER!!!I have issues with plaque behind my lower teeth even though I floss every day, there is still plaque at my 6 mo dental visit. After using the Fuchs soft toothbrush, the quality of my teeth have improved! I need to use soft, the medium is way too hard for me. The bristles get every nook and cranny, cleaning your teeth so wonderfully. I also use Dr. Tungs smart floss which has saved my teeth as well, using the two together are a power team! This is my favorite toothbrush of all time and I will never use any other toothbrush! I've turned my family on to them too, they LOVE them!

seller/handling concerns
update: seller reports that they get the toothbrushes from the manufacturer and just ship them out. so how one was opened remains a mystery. I want to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, yet they did ship that opened one to me.original post:Fuchs toothbrushes are great.on receiving the toothbrushes today, I immediately noticed that one of the five toothbrushes had been opened before shipment. the label/seal had been broken.maybe it’s just me, but this makes me wonder about the safety and cleanliness of all the toothbrushes. the plastic cases each comes in have small openings, so whoever decided to open one toothbrush could easily contaminate the others, if that was the intention.clearly, this kind of event is rare and takes a certain kind of person to commit acts of anonymous malevolence, but it does happen — which is why consumers have to be vigilant about tampering and concerned about the chain of custody for items like this. it is in this regard I feel the seller let me down.I’ll likely not be buying from Sullivan Vitamins again.
