ZVEZDA 3608 - Soviet Heavy Tank KV-2 - Plastic Model Kit Scale 1/35, 393 Parts, Length 7.9" / 20 cm

I've been building Tamiya models for a while now having returned to the hobby after a gap of 40 odd years but I'd never tried a Zvezda model before. Overall I was really surprised how detailed it was and I'm really happy with the outcome although I've still to finish the painting and weathering. It has taken me longer to build than I expected and there were some parts that were really tricky at time like the hinge fittings for the drivers hatch and the hatches for the engine access but don't let this put you off they are not crucial to the build if you are not going to have the hatches open/accessible. There were also other internal parts that aren't particularly necessary like the engine block but it does give you the option to have it on show if you wanted to create a diorama etc.Comparing this to a Tamiya model, I'd say it takes a bit more time, effort and patients to build particularly following and interpreting the instructions but you quickly get the hang of them; you do need to double check and dry fit the parts to make sure of alignment etc before rushing in to glue up. I'd actually put together and almost completed the Tamiya SU85 while waiting for all different elements to this model to dry and come together for final painting.I'm really happy with this model and I'll be trying a few more from Zvezda in the future.

Great kit, even for a beginner like myself, plenty of detail and decent quality. Plastic is quite soft and easily bent but once you put the thing together it gets more rigid overall, and tamiya standard cement works great and sets quickly, giving you couple of minutes to adjust parts if needed. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that the last part of the main gun barrel (comes in 3 separate sections) was missing, looked like it came off in the factory before the mouldings were sealed in a plastic bag, not the sellers fault but something to be aware of as I’ve heard other stories of parts missing or straight up wrong mouldings in zvezda kits.Overall very happy with how it came out and would recommend to any derp gun enthusiast!
